Buy It Soon: aBlogtoRead.com Limited Edition Watch Winder
As a way of rewarding readers I've teamed up with Wolf Designs to create a special limited edition aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer branded single watch winder. It will be available for sale in just a few days. People have been asking for an aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer wrist watch for a while - that one might take a whilebut I am really excited to offer you a new any to enjoy aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer and keep your automatic watches safe and wound. My intent was to offer a very simple plug and play system that doesn't require any fussing around. The aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer Watch Winder by Wolf Designs is based on their Cub Winder single watch winder system. You plug it in, put your watch on the cuff, and turn it on. The winder winds in both directions and requires no extra thought or settings. Perfect for the vast majority of automatic watches out there. Real easy - just how I like it.The limited edition winder is totally aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer branded. The logo is placed with gold foil on
Interesting outing
I'm not sure which forum to post this in given the range of brands involved, but thought I'd try the AP forum, as this is where I spend most of my time. Last night I used the excuse of a trip to my tailor to get out of the office to do a quick circuit of some of the grey dealers and ADs in Tsim Sha Tsui and encountered quite a nice selection of watches. The Rolex ADs had nothing of interest, but I did come across the Sea-dweller 43 - for an absurd premium over MSRP (in line with what these are going for here, though) but it was good to try it on. And I must say that I found it a bit disappointing - it seemed much smaller than I'd been expecting (not helped by putting it on after taking off my AP 44!). I liked it...didn't love it - but removing any sense of urgency to acquire this is good for my bank balance. At the same dealer; I also had the chance to try on the AP 44 summer edition - while I wouldn't wear this enough to justify the purchase, it is a really striking pieceOn a lark, I
Speed master moon watch , Hesalite of the Sapphire Sandwich?
I'm in the market for an Omega Speedmaster moon watch . I would really value your opinion on whether to go with the original style Hesalite crystal or with the newer style exhibition caseback ?
What's in a name- Henri, Philippe, or Thierry?
I found the recent post regarding the Geneva seal vs the PP seal quite interesting and one commentary in particular caught my attention. Subtona raised the question as to whether the traditional Geneva seal might some day be of added interest to collectors. To be honest, I don't know whether his comments were sincere or facetious, but I'll assume the former.Expanding on that concept I wondered whether the watches produced under Henri Stern's stewardship might be similarly valued differently from those of his son Philippe, or grandson Thierry. For me the best days of Patek Philippe were under the reign of Henri until 1992-3 when he turned control to his son Philippe, who in turn passed control to his son Thierry in 2009.My first Patek was purchased in 1992 (certificate signed by Henri) and my more recent purchases have certificates signed by either Philippe or Thierry. My personal preference for Patek Philippe watches has always been their traditional dress watches, which many would de
5165 and 3712
So the 5165 is no where as rare as the 3712....but think these are pieces worth holding onto for awhile. In hunting for a 5165 I've learned just how freaking hard they are to find. Does anyone know the production number/years for the 5165? We all know the 3712 was only in production for 1 year, making it one of the ultimate nauts to get...What about the 5960P black dial? Thoughts on this as well for the same reasons.
