BASELWORLD 2011 - New Model - Patek Philippe 5073 P - Minute Repeater
Patek Philippe Ref. 5073The minute repeater with a perpetual calendar and 158 baguette diamonds totaling 5.27 ct. unites horological excellence with the pinnacle of the jeweler's art.Patek Philippe ranks among the few manufactures that consummately master the orchestration of cathedral gongs C extra-long gongs which produce an inimitably voluminous and reverberant sound. Its latest minute repeater, the Ref. 5073 with cathedral gongs and a perpetual calendar, leaves connoisseurs speechless: not only due to its breathtaking sound quality, but also given the 103 baguette diamonds on its bezel and 55 further diamonds on the dial and clasp.Patek Philippe strikes the right chordThe minute repeater is considered to be the queen of the so-called Grand Complications. But even here, it is possible to push the envelope of excellence. Obviously, the key issue is to manufacture the many tiny components of the mechanism to the utmost of perfection, to fastidiously finish them, and to integrate the

Are there any 2254's still at AD's in your area? If you know of one, please help me out with a name and number.
Pp 5726
Hi, I am wondering how difficult or easy it is to obtain a 5726 from an AD. Is it as difficult as a 5711 or 5712? I am particularly looking at the steel with black dial and full bracelet. Also, if these are just as difficult to obtain as some of the other models, is it worth going with a grey dealer? All thoughts and honest opinions are welcome. Thanks.
5711 or ROO
Obviously this question is posted in the Patek section, but since several of you own both, what do you prefer, Patek 5711 or AP ROO?
A 400-500 Unit Tachymeter Scale is Absolutely Useless for Most Folks
For chronograph lovers, the tachymeter/stop watch function is its most attractive feature (whether strictly for looks or actual usage) and the pushers always add a nice touch to the overall appearance of the watch. But one thing has always perplexed me and that is, whether it's on land (or water) a 400+ scale reading is somewhat useless from the standpoint of actual attainable speed. The other evening, I saw a gentleman wearing a Seiko 6139/Pogue chronograph and on its tachymeter scale, a 50 unit reading is visible at 00:12. This made far more sense from the standpoint that even a F1 driver is rarely going to exceed 200 kph and the descending scale on the 6139 allowed for a sub 60 unit reading. For most practical applications, a 50-250 unit reading seems far more useful IMHO.From the air, a 400+ reading is difficult to ascertain as the landmarks for establishing a visual reference point are oftentimes inaccurate and impractical. Besides, if one is going that fast, who has time to play a
