Arnold & Son’s HMS1 Collection Strives for Classical Elegance
Arnold & Son, the Swiss watch brand based in La Chaux-de-Fonds and named for 18th-century London watchmaker John Arnold, has released a new collection of elegantly simple watches called HMS1. The name harks back to John Arnold’s history as a supplier of marine chronometers to the British Royal Navy. The quartet of new watches includes two in stainless steel cases, with a white or anthracite dial ($9,885 and $10,095, respectively); one in an 18k rose gold case with an anthracite dial ($15,165); and one in an 18k white gold case with a silver-colored dial ($16,640). All the cases are 40 mm in diameter, water-resistant to 30 meters, and feature curved sapphire crystals with nonreflective coating on both sides as well as sapphire exhibition casebacks. The watches contain Arnold & Son’s in-house, hand-wound movement, Caliber A&S1001, which powers the hours, minutes and small seconds display at 6 ‘clock on the dial. The movement is only 2.7 mm thick, but incorpora
Watch Talk with David Pittsinger : Opera Singer - Broadway Star - Watch Collector
What drives my passion for watches is not only the representation of time - and the complications - and the intricate dials - but the faces of those who feel the same. Especially when you get them talking. No matter what they do for a living, or who they are day-to-day, their interest in watches shapes them and their professions in so many intrinsic, unifying ways.I'm always intrigued to speak to someone new about their fascination with watches - and what makes their love unique. Here's a profile of a man who is an aficionado of watches, an accomplished American Bass-Baritone opera-star, and a rising star on Broadway.David Pittsinger - a modern watch collector with classic tastes - who brings his love for watches onto the stage with him.Omega Tank Watch - Rolex GMT II Dualmaster - Rolex Cellini DanaosMolly McDermott: Tell me how your profession and talent has enhanced and enabled your love of watches? New from Techne: The Merlin Collection
Popular “budget” brand, Techn looks to have another winner on their hands with the recently released Merlin Collection. The military inspired pieces – reminiscent of airplane cockpit instrumentation and early mil watches – are available in a time (with seconds) only or a multi-function version. ?The movement inside of each is a Seiko Instruments quartz movement, specifically the VD78.A quick look at the specs reveal a very moderate 38mm size with 20mm lugs and a mineral crystal. Water resistance is shallow at 50M, which is logical for a watch with pilot-styling. The watch has a number of options for the strap at purchase: NATO, canvas or cowhide leather options are available for each model. The multi-function provides day of the week and date over the time only version.Prices for the time only models are $190-$200 and the multi-function runs $240-$250, depending on your strap choice.Tecnh has continued to put out well designed military-inspired timepieces and
AP Servicing Cost
Hey everyone. I'm getting the ROO Black/ Red this week and am very excited about it. I came across an article that said that AP servicing cost very high compared to other brands. After buying a new AP, how many years until I need to service it? And will it be very expensive as it is said? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
