The Most Important Watches At SIAR Madrid 2015
By Santiago TejedorJune 11-14, 2015, saw the Saln Internacional de Alta Relojera (SIAR) opening its doors once again, this year in Spain, as a sister event to SIAR Mexico City. SIAR Madrid is really a spin-off event (run by most of the same people) from the long-standing salon held in Mxico that watches-dealer founder Ariel covered for its 2014 event here. This was the second edition and, for what I hear from the exhibiting brands, the outcome was pretty decent, which augurs a third edition. The preamble was not very promising, though: after days of scorching heat, Madrid was hit by a monsoon, a freak downpour which flooded the city. It proved two things: Swiss watches are water-resistant, but provisional outdoor tents are not to be trusted in heavy rain. Following the deluge, exhibitors (some of them at least) raced to the scene at 3am to get things ready to fall in - which they did, for the most part.SIAR Madrid 2015 was held in a nineteenth century mansion with a certain opulent
Anyone Get The Boutique X-Mas Gift Yet?
Got my annual card in the mail today to pick up my free gift at the boutique today. Last year it was a nice history of Omega book. Just wondering if anyone has picked up this year's or knows what it is.
Nightmare about your watch?
Have you ever had a nightmare about a watch you owned? I just had one last night about my new Sub. I still feel slightly ill about it, lol. At one point in the dream, I noticed that somehow I had two sets of HUGE dents on the bracelet. I then took it to a jeweler (for some reason) who proceeded to pry at it with a screw driver doing more damage. Eventually they broke off a piece of a silicon like circuit board with some secret number inside the case (no idea what that's about, it's a dream it's not supposed to make sense) and send me back to my original AD for help. That's about the time my alarm went off. It was bloody terrifying. How about you, any similar nightmares with untold watch destruction?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So, finally, I'm in the waitlist for a Hulk..
Today, after 5 years collecting watches, more than 20 pieces of different brands and 3 different Rolex watches, I've finally putted myself in the waitlist for my grail: Rolex Submariner 116610LV, The hulk!I have to say that I'm quite excited, even when this same happened to me since I've bought my first luxury piece, an Omega SMPc, or when I've got my first submariner, the iconic 16610. But this time feels different, I'm going for my grail, the first one I saw back in 2012 and became my dream watch. The truth is, last year, I've found myself with more watches that I had the chance to wear, so decided to consolidate my collection in no more than 5 pieces plus a G shock, and that's exactly what I did. I currently have a Rolex GMTc LN, a Rolex Explorer I mk2, an Omega SMPc, Omega Speedy FOIS and a Breitling Navitimer A23322 blue dial, all pieces that I love and wear quite often but someting was missing, specially around my GMT which has been sat in the box since I acquired the explorer, a
