Chronoswiss Sales Jump 62%
Munich-based luxury watch manufacturer Chronoswiss announced a 62 percent increase in sales over the nine-month period ending September 30. During a press conference held on Wednesday at the Chronoswiss manufacturing subsidiary in Biel, Switzerland, Gerd-R. Lang, founder and sole shareholder of Chronoswiss, announced the brand’s strategy for the next decade. Chronoswiss will remain independent in ownership and management and will not deviate from its philosophy of steady but healthy growth. “We have the ultimate luxury of not being absorbed by shareholder value” said Lang. “That is why we can and will use any increased corporate revenue for one purpose only: to build better watches.”“Due to its size and structure, Chronoswiss has been hit much less by the recession than most other brands” adds Hartmut Kraft, President of Chronoswiss of North America. “That is why we are even more confident that this year’s dramatic improvement will
Girard-Perregaux 35th Anniversary Laureato Quartz
2010 marks a double anniversary for Girard-Perregaux: 35 years of the Laureato collection and 40 years since its first quartz wristwatches. The Manufacture played an important role in the development of quartz movements; it set the frequency of 32,768 Hz, since adopted by all manufacturers as the universal standard. The Story of Quartz at Girard-PerregauxIn the 1960s, Girard-Perregaux was one of the few brands with an in-house R&D department, positioning the firm to respond to the advent of then cutting-edge quartz movements. American, Japanese and Swiss firms raced to bring the technology to market. While most Swiss watchmakers were undertaking joint research, from 1962 the G-P manufacture struck out on its own, not wanting to be dependent on outside suppliers. In 1969 the brand received its first patent relating to quartz technology. At the 1970 Basel fair, G-P unveiled the Elcron, a quartz wristwatch featuring an 8,192 Hz quartz oscillator. The Manufacture independently anno
Man Finds Original LeCoultre Deep Sea Alarm At Phoenix Goodwill Store For $5.99, Sells It For $35,00
It's every watch collector's dream: to find a super-rare and valuable watch for sale for almost nothing at a thrift shop, estate/garage/car boot?sale or flea market. For Zach Norris, the dream became a reality recently when he walked into a Phoenix, Arizona?Goodwill store looking for a used push-pull golf cart only, to stop by and dig through the store's watch basket on his way out. Inside the basket filled with?Fossil watches with dead batteries (most priced around $15 according to Zach) was a watch,?face down, that caught his interest. The dial said "LeCoultre Deep Sea Alarm." The price? $5.99. 2 OF 12 Zach knew the LeCoultre name and knew the watch was made by Jaeger-LeCoultre and probably was worth far more than the $5.99 price, but he didn't realize?it was a?vintage LeCoultre Deep Sea Alarm from circa 1959 worth over $35,000. According to the price tag, the watch had been put out for sale the previous day, January 16, and although Zach had left empty-handed in terms
Waiting for the Luminor 'tre' with 100m water resistance . .
I love Panerai, but, I just can't wrap my head around the new 30 meter rated Luminor models. A supposed dive watch that's not meant for the pool or shower, let alone ocean? Can you imagine Rolex slimming the Submariner case and reducing the rating from 300 meters to 30 meters? No, it's just impossible. It. Would. Never. Happen. But, that's what OP just did! It totally gutted its own heritage. OP's management has seriously lost the plot. It's like Panerai just released an OEM fake or really bad homage. Yes, maybe Panerai will sell a bunch. Well, Michael Kors sells a bunch of fashion watches, too. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
New Panerai PAM600 Radiomir Minute Repeater Tourbillon GMT
Panerai PAM600 Radiomir Minute Repeater Tourbillon GMTA day that many of us wondered would ever come. Panerai after years of research has released their first ever minute repeater model. Of course Panerai had to do things a little differently with their minute repeater. Instead of the second gong striking for every 15 minutes, Panerai's model does it for each 10 minute interval which cuts down on the chimes and makes it easier to tell the time from the sound. The watch is also dual time GMT and you can select which time to have the minute repeater chime out. It's going to be a made to order piece that can be customized by the buyer. Price as seen in the picture is going to be around 359,000 Euro. A lot more information in the actual article but thought I would share.
