New Book Traces Audemars Piguet History
Founded in 1875 in Le Brassus by watchmakers Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet, today the Manufacture Audemars Piguet employs almost 1,000 people in Switzerland and around the world. This new book illustrates the Audemars Piguet passion for fine watchmaking, cultivated for 136 years. Audemars Piguet began in a workshop in a family home in a small town in the Jura. Finding its way through the political and economic upheavals of the 20th century, the brand has succeeded in perpetuating the values of its founders while combining high-tech procedures with the patient work of its artisans. The new Audemars Piguet book relates the story of the firm since its founding through richly illustrated chronological sequences. The first chapters, The Joux Valley, or the nature of watches and Watchmaking in the genes, relate the company's history and look back to its earliest roots in the Joux Valley (Swiss Jura), a haven of complicated horology since the mid-18th century. The pages offer
Cadillac Points To Luxury Watches Industry As Inspiration For 2013 XTS Car Design
[youtube youtubewatches-dealer/watch?v=RxrKyRarm4s]Much ink has been spilled when it comes to comparing wristwatches and cars, and it's an analogy I myself have drawn in articles. Most times, though, that comparison has been in one direction. ??A video we found from Cadillac shows us the comparison can actually be a two-way street. The video is really a PR bit for the design influences for Cadillac's new XTS model. While they call out other industries, it was very intriguing to hear them deliberately reference the watch industry - specifically, the luxury end of the market. Frankly, it's not a big leap to make, in either direction. Though it is interesting because historically (and still today) the watch industry very much borrows from automotive design when dreaming up new models. It is interesting to hear how the automotive industry is now in turn, looking to the watch industry. When it comes to a high-end car, we look for many of the same things we expect from a high-end watch. We exp

New 42 mm Explorer vs. 40 mm
I am considering an used Explorer II just because it is not the typical Sub style. What do new owners think of the new 42 mm case dia and BWG9 lume vs. The older 40 mm design? I do like the wider hands and as bit more prominent orange 24 hr hand on the newer Explorer. I believe the lug width is now 21 mm ? And the lug to lug is 49 or 50 mm? The 2mm difference might not make too much difference to a smallerwrist wearer? Thanks so much
