New arrival in gold and steel
A friend of mine (large public company CEO) has been persuading me for months about the virtues of the Royal Oak. I've had the opportunity to spend some quality time with his in both gold and steel. I wasn't 100% sold on either until we discussed the new two-tone 15400SR. Two-tone tend to be a love/hate thing, but I'm the exception who likes it in some watches and not others.Anyway, after getting together earlier this week, I made the impulsive decision to acquire a RO in steel and rose gold, and was able to get one here just in time for a business trip out to the Bay Area. I'll have a few days to bond with the watch and see how I really feel.For now, here's a pic:The prior owner was gracious enough to get the first minor ding out of the way which allows my OCD a breather until it goes into Clearwater for its first servicements (even if you hate it) welcome. :-)P.S. Watch Demagnetizing - Odd results
Hi All,I've never demagnetized a watch before so thought I'd start here to see what you all think.I purchased an inexpensive demagnetizer from eBay that I've seen others report success with. That said, I think it worked as when I run my vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille by a compass it doesn't move.That said, when I run the demagnetizer with the watch it causes the second hands to jump forward erratically...and sometimes it causes it to pause for a split second. Is this expected or normal...or could this perhaps be indicative of some other issue?

5167 worth liquidating for?
Hello everyone, I have decided that I would like to get a 5167 as my next piece (and first Patek). I have handled the watch and started to really understand what the extra money and effort produces compared to other brands. I am in a position to purchase one now, but would need to liquidate both of my Rolex watches to get there (pre-ceramic Daytona and GMT Master II LN). The Daytona is not a concern to me as I purchased it solely as a good deal between friends (he could care less that I'm selling it now). The real question is whether selling both would be worth it to move up to the Patek. Other than the GMT and Daytona, I have a Nomos Orion (my dressier piece), a sinn 556i and Seiko skx007j. The 5167 would fill in as the watch I will wear 5+ days a week. The obvious answer would be to keep one (or both) and buy the 5167, but I have set aside as much as I would like to for watches at this time. From the eyes of Patek owners, would you rather have the Daytona and GMT or 5167.Thank you in
