Is Slowing Demand For Watches In Asia Finally Causing Job Cuts At Swiss Manufactures?
While the?luxury watch fair Watches & Wonders is running at full throttle in Hong Kong, one needs to take a step back to understand how markets in China and other places around the world are affecting the watch market and causing it to adapt and evolve. Even in Hong Kong, strong?pro-democracy protests have been under way, in what some refer to as "the worst unrest since the territory's 1997 handover from Britain," according to Reuters. At the same time, news released from TAG?Heuer (the largest watch company in the LVMH luxury conglomerate) announced earlier this week it is cutting jobs in its watch manufacturing facilities. We believe that this news is strongly linked to the?slowing demand from?the "Asian watch capital," and China overall.According to official Swiss statistics, Hong Kong alone accounted for?nearly 20% of all Swiss watch exports in value, more than the USA and Germany combined C and with that in mind, it is easy to see why this has been urging TAG Heuer to undertak
Sinn Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition Watch
German Sinn timepieces are really hard for us tool watch lovers to resist. Often stalwart in their new products, over the last few years they have been a bit more trendy and playful. While I don't know first hand, I have a feeling that the Bell & Ross success was a major eye-opener for them. Back in the 1990s when Bell & Ross began, they were basically selling dual-branded Sinn watches in a new distribution method. It was basically like selling the best tools in a hardware store, but now in a department store. Bell & Ross has since come a long way, but their roots in offering plain and simple instrument watches hasn't changed much.I've noticed Sinn starting to offer more limited edition models, especially those that play into the vintage watch theme. Here is one such limited edition model that will surely appeal to Sinn and vintage watch lovers. This is the Chronograph Tachymeter - and is sort of exclusive for the German market (though anyone can get one). The Chronograph T
The Hublot Atelier: The Hublot for when your other Hublot is in the Shop.
One of the most traumatic and stressful events the owner of a nice watch can experience is the painful process of sending your precious watch off into the unchartered vagaries and perilous possibilities of a factory service. Hublot's trying to ease the pain a little. The lengthy and costly factory service is one of the joys of owning a mechanical watch, and people deal with it in various ways. Some weep every time they glance at their unadorned wrist, others use it as an opportunity to buy a replacement watch.?Servicing also seems to be the point that most strains the relationship between brand and loyal customer: the consumer's lack of control over the process, and over their own watch can lead to tension, and often angry posts on the internet, very easily.? 2 OF 2 Hublot, who, aside from doing 'fusion' very well, also do a very good job at building and maintaining communities, have recognised this. In a very clever move, they have announced an "Atelier Watch," the horolo
SMP bracelet links
Does anyone know how many links there are in the SMP bracelet? Thanks.
Mis-Aligned Markers
I just purchased this 2508 and after getting home with the watch I noticed the markers aren't perfectly lined up with their corresponding dots. They're slightly offset to the left. I notice it most at the 11 o'clock markerI've been looking at a bunch of other 570's and 2508's and it looks like this isn't extremely uncommon. Is this mis-alignment evidence of a dial restoration? Are there original dials that left the Patek factory like this? I bought this piece from a very reputable vintage Patek dealer who believes the dial to be original but would really appreciate some other opinions. Thanks in advance! https://imgur/a/HbFuk
