Ball Engineer II Magneto S Watch With Iris Anti-Magnetic Caseback
Perhaps the most exciting new Ball watch from Baselworld 2014 was not yet complete, but we did get to play with a prototype. It is the Engineer II Magneto S watch, and it offers a distinct approach to offering a modern anti-magnetic timepiece. In a nutshell, here is how it works. The bezel of the watch actually operates an iris-style shield that opens and closes over the movement. Ball calls this new system "A-PROOF" and it is being debuted here in the Engineer II Magneto watch.Of course, A-PROOF comes at a time when anti-magnetic is "hot" thanks to Omega's >15,000 Gauss watch and new Master Co-Axial movements. Omega's approach is more passive and automatic in the sense that their movements aren't really magnetic at all, so therefore they simply don't react to most magnetic fields. Ball takes a more interactive approach that, while perhaps a bit less practical, makes for a good tool tech toy. Ball claims that most of their anti-magnetic watches are resistant to about 12,000 A/m, whi

Introducing The Montblanc Heritage Chronomtrie Dual Time, A New Offering With In-House Complication
Montblanc's 2014 lineup was strong. Models such the Meisterstück Heritage Pulsograph, the Villeret 1858 Vintage Pulsographe and the Meisterstück Heritage Perpetual Calendar paved the way to a strong 2015. Montblanc also recently revealed its Orbis Terrarum Worldtimer with an in-house complication at a rather accessible price point. The new Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Dual Time draws from that same development process and introduces a dual-time complication. The stainless-steel case of the Dual Time measures in at 41 mm x 9.9 mm. It has a modern dress diameter and is slim enough to easily slide under a cuff. A flat bezel, alternately polished and satin-finished balances the dressiness and everyday wearability of this model. Faceted lanced hour markers (the second time in blue) add solid aesthetics to the design. The dial is finished in a sunburst pattern with applied indexes and a numeral 12, all polished and faceted. 2 OF 3 As we've said befor
The Bulgari Octo Maserati: A Triple Retrograde Jump-Hour Chronograph With "Maserati" Nowhe
Ferrari may have Hublot (and Movado?), but Maserati now has Bulgari.? The new Octo Maserati is really an impressive timepiece, featuring a jump-hour at 12 o'clock and a retrograde displays for the minutes, running seconds, chronograph minutes, and date.? What makes this watch interesting is that instead of opting for aggressive Maserati branding on the dial, you won't see the name anywhere on front of the watch.? Instead, the retrograde displays are styled in Maserati-like way.? The limited edition does feature the Maserati trident on the caseback, but in the world of luxury automobile-themed timepieces, that's about as understated as you're going to get.? Incoming!! My first PP to arrive today.
Been looking at the 5711 and 5167 a lot lately. I ultimately decided on a 5167 on rubber strap as I don't dress up often and tend to prefer sporty watches. Think this will be a great piece for my collection. My local AD was out of stock but found one via a TRF friend. Waiting for it to arrive and hopefully have time to run down to the AD and get it fitted. Pics will follow....
