Swatch Switches Gears, Plans Smart Watch, Says Wall Street Journal
For the longest time, Swiss executives had pretended that the looming Smartwatch category would have little effect on their business. But today, the Wall Street Journal reports that Swatch will add fitness capabilities to some of its touch line of watches. The products will be first shown in 2015. Import delay with FedEx
My newly acquired and modded 2254.50 was on the other side of the world when I bought and paid for it on Tuesday, July 29. The seller's listing included Paypal fees and FedEx shipping. The seller promptly shipped the next day, Wednesday, with delivery scheduled on Thursday. The watch arrived in the US (Indianapolis, IN) at 2:31 AM on Thursday and was promptly dispatched to Athens, GA where it arrived an hour later with the words: clearance delay - import.Apparently the watch was then returned to Indianapolis where it sat while FedEx requested additional documentation from the seller. At 9:10 PM on August 5, the shipment was released and at 3:36 AM, August 6, departed for Athens, GA again. Later that morning (11:47) the watch was finally in my hands.The experience reminded me why I had always used EMS for international shipments. My Very Frist Omega (Don't hate me Rolex)
It's kind of like a Ford guy buying a Chevy for the first time...My very first Omega came via UPS today It is a Seamaster Planet Ocean XL.Orange Bezel & Orange 12/6/9.Black Omega Rubber Strap w/ Deployment Clasp w/ Orange Stitching.And man did I have a surprise: I thought I was buying the watch pre-loved... but when this baby showed up, it was sealed! All stickers were still in place including the seal over the crystal... the red dot is also still in place on the caseback...In addition, the warrany card has 2011 embossed in it, but the date is open, any suggestions if I should fill in the date or not???No wrist shot yet, because I don't want to take off the plastics... haha Anway, I will wear it for a bit, and then probably sell it to fund another Rolex... but I must say, I am loving it!!! The size is so cool, just right for a guy like me (6'3)....

Buying a 5-year old new in box datejust?
Hi guys, after hanging around in the forum for last few years I've finally saved up enough to buy a 36mm datejust. While I'm browsing for what's on the market, I found a seller selling a never-worn datejust that was manufactured in 2012 (W116234BLSO, seller's disclosure). How concerned (if at all) should I be with the production date that was 5 years ago? Since it's my first time buying a rolex, and also since I've actually never seen others disclosing the production year beforehand, I'm curious what the market practice is (does official dealers also sell watches that are manufactured a few years back if they are of same model?). Is the 5 year gap is something that I should be concerned about in buying high-end watches?Thank you!
