Watch Winner Review: Swiss Army Officer's Day/Date Mechanical
In March 2014, watches-dealer gave away a Victorinox Swiss Army Officer's Day/Date Mechanical watch. The winner was Lee M. from San Francisco, CAand this is his watch winner review of the timepiece. If I'm honest, Victorinox Swiss Army had fallen off my radar until recently. I've always had a soft spot for the Swiss Army watches: they are well made, dependable watches with nice feature sets at very reasonable prices. The problem was that I didn't find them particularly exciting. They were maybe too plain, or too conservative with some models; in other models the cases were huge, and the fonts were chunky. I thought they looked good on other people, but never looked right on my wrist.A few years ago, Victorinox did a bit of re-branding and came out with a number of very handsome mechanical watches. Still conservative, yes, but really well-finished, and not as utilitarian as some of their quartz offerings from before. When I found out I had won the Officer's Day/Date Mechanical, I was tru
Found: The Very First Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveller Ever Made, For Sale (A True Prototype, In Steel)
At Baselworld 2013, everyone's favorite quietly badass independent, Laurent Ferrier, introduced the Galet Traveller, a two-timezone take on his expertly finished, double-impulse, natural-escapement-powered Galet Micro-Rotor. Since then, the Galet and Galet Traveller (and Galet Square) have become something of the thinking man's high-end time-only watch, seen them on the wrists of a handful of very interesting folks. Today, however, we've found something even more special – the very first Galet Traveller ever made, in stainless steel, with a prototype movement, belonging to the former CEO of Laurent Ferrier. And it's for sale. 1 OF 10 While LF has started to make more watches in stainless steel – the Galet Square comes in steel and they've recently announced a steel Galet MR for a French retailer – a steel-case Galet Traveller has never before been seen. These prototype cases in steel were just that – prototypes, never really mea
Winding Omega 300m grinding sound?
Hey All,Just received a new 300m and have a concern. When I unwind the crown and it pops out. I start to manually wind it an it feels like it's kind of grinding. Is the crown not out far enough and rubbing on the screw threads or is that how it feels with the rotor winding up.***My procedure***1st. Unwind all the way and let the crown move out on its own.2nd. Wind forward or clockwise. When I do this I can feel a grinding...or a ...hard to describe...buzzing-BUT I DO NOT HEAR IT...just feel it.If I pull out to the first click, isn't that the date adjustment? I guess I need to read the instructions. The reason I ask is that on my Rolex watches I do the same procedure as described, with no grinding feeling.Am I winding it correctly? Thanks for helping me with my remedial question(s).....
At long last! Happy days!
After many long years, months and days I finally managed to track down a complete and more importantly mint condition Alaska Project Limited Edition Speedmaster. To say that I'm over the moon ;) is an understatement of epic proportions. I just can't wait until it reaches my doorstep. Thanks George AB!Copper
