Historical Perspectives: The True And Sad Story Of J.B. Champion, Jr., The Man Behind The Most Expensive Watch Without Complications Ever Sold At Auction
On November 12, 2012, the watch collecting community watched in wonder as two of the world's most important Patek Philippe wristwatches went under the hammer at Christie's Geneva: a reference 2499 perpetual calendar chronograph in platinum?offered for sale by Eric Clapton (one of two white metal 2499s ever made, with the other belonging to Patek Philippe)?and a reference 2458 that was made especially for Joe Ben Champion, Jr. housing a movement that placed third in the 1948 Geneva Observatory competition. Anyone dealt with Windsor Jewelers?
Hi folks,Been lurking here and reading while trying to decide between a AT w/ 8500 or a PO w/ 2500. After filling out all the registration information (name, rank, serial number) I got to the point that I expected to be asked for my credit card info, only to be prompted to Check your email. The email says that in order to provide their customers with these amazing prices, the only way I can pay for

If I am understanding correctly there were basically three versions of the blue dial in this watch. PurpleishBlue SunburstNON Blue SunburstFirst question. Was the purpleish one meant to be and originally purpleish or is it a blue dial that changed with age?Anyone have a pic of a sunburst next to a non sunburst? Thanks!
