Basel Preview: Harry Winston Histoire de Tourbillon 2
In 2009 Harry Winston launched Histoire de Tourbillon collection. This year, for its second edition, the House launches an exclusive new timepiece with a bi-axial flying tourbillon in a 20-piece limited series. The monumental case features eight sapphire crystals housed in a 48.5mm white gold structure. The tourbillon has no upper bridge and is supported only from the side of the case such that the point of fixation is invisible, creating a floating effect. Look for wallpaper inside. The the bi-axial flying tourbillon combines two concentric carriages – the outer formed from titanium – and gains added precision by enabling the regulating organ to perform multidimensional rotations. The striking visual effect is created by an outer carriage completing one full turn in 120 seconds and housing an internal carriage C holding the balance, balance-spring and escapement C that revolves in just 40 seconds. The case effectively compartmentalizes the timekeeping functions. Introducing: The World's First Fully Functional 3D Printed Watch: The Christoph Laimer Tourbillo
It was an unseasonably warm Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, and I was walking my dog when my phone buzzed with a text message from a friend, containing only a link to something on Thingiverse (a 3D printing file-sharing site). I opened the link and my jaw dropped; I was looking at a 3D printed tourbillon watch running by itself, built by Christoph Laimer, a Swiss engineer. This is an actual watch, with a tourbillon, that is almost entirely 3D printed. Think about it: the tourbillon – a 200+ year old invention designed by one of the greatest watchmakers to ever live, which for most of its history has been practically synonymous with hand-craftsmanship and high end watchmaking, has been produced in a working watch with a 3D printer. You can wind it, set the time, and carry it with you. Sure, it's a bit large (a pocket watch, not a wristwatch, and they'd need to be good sized pockets to boot) not very accurate, and only runs for about 30 minutes
Daytona 116509 grey racing dial or AP 15400st black dial
Which one would you guys choose? I know we're on the Rolex forum but any other opinions or pros and cons of either would be appreciated. I would just like some discussion to help make my mind up!I am after a pride of place watch and I was about to buy the AP 15400st (2016) for ?12500 (I understand you can get a discount on new ones in the US?) when I saw the 2013 116509 for ?16000.I know there is a price difference but that is not the point, either of these will be the most I have ever spent on a watch. This buy is for a watch that I will keep rather than sell on, having said that value retention is still important to me. I really liked the AP and still do but the 116509... It just seems more special. Thanks all
Jumbo 15202
Is it hard to find a Jumbo 15202 at US AD? What is msrp? Could you swing a discount on this piece?
16613 clasp polish query
Please see attached image and let me know if the portion inside the red circle is supposed to be Brush Finished or Shiny Finished(like the Centre gold links)I've searched the internet and found both kind of Finishes, but not sure what exactly came from the factory?Any picture of the clasp of an unpolished 16613 would be highly appreciated.
