Perrelet Launches Alternance 10 In-House Movement
Swiss watch manufacturer Perrelet has added its name to the growing list of manufacture brands with the introduction of an independently produced caliber, an automatic double-rotor movement called Alternance 10, or A10.Perrelet, named for Swiss watchmaking pioneer Abraham-Louis Perrelet, inventor of the automatic watch, has worked toward the goal of vertical integration since its purchase in 2004 by Spanish entrepreneur Miguel Rodriguez, owner of the Festina Group. The company calls the new movement “a decisive step on the path towards autonomous production.”As part of the Festina Group, Perrelet can take advantage of relationships with its sister companies in the Group, such as Soprod, IMM Ineltec, MHVJ and Astral, which produce various components for watch movements. The result, according to Perrelet CEO Fausto Salvi, is an impressive level of industrial self-sufficiency.“Today more than ever, having in-house means of developing and producing horological specialties
A New Flagship: The Breitling Chronomat 01 Limited Edition
Just in time for the holidays, Breitling introduces a new flagship, the Chronomat 01 Limited Edition. At Basel 2009, Breitling debuted the Chronomat 01 with the Caliber 01 manufacture movement, developed and produced at the brand’s workshops in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Over Wound??
I have left my watch at home while I was away for the week. I came home today and I saw that my watch was still running. Amazed that it was still running after 4 days I told my pops. He then broke the news that he took it out to wear it a few times. Then I thought about keeping it running, so I gave it one turn and the clicks were extremely loud. Does that just mean that my pops over wound my watch??
