My First Grail Watch: Pierre Jacques Of De Bethune
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Pierre Jacques, the CEO of De Bethune.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Pierre Jacques (PJ): I am Pierre Jacques, the CEO of De Bethune. Prior to joining them, I worked as a Branch Manager of Les Ambassadeurs Genve, and also headed the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix as director of the organizing company. And before all of that, I founded GMT Magazine in 2000.ABTW: When did your fascination with watches start?PJ: Watchmaking is a passion, and I can't remember when it started - maybe when I broke my PD (editor's note: a savings account) to buy a Kelton? Which apparently has a very audible mechanical alarm. While an alarm may seem a simple complication, getting a good sound out of a mechanical movement is tough. Most of us are used to beeping Casio watches. While an alarm is very useful to some people, Vulcain makes some far fetched claims about the audibility of the alarm underwater. Really Vulcain? You
Which would you pick?
I bought a 41mm RG ROC last week, but I'm thinking about trading up to a RG ROO. Which one would you pick?
Got my 5960/1a !!
It took some perseverance but it's well worth it!!The piece is gorgeous. Yes a bit blingy for a PP but the dial is amazingly legible and the movement is a beautyI'll post up more pics soon!Really excited about this one!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416440808.746666.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1416440819.117832.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1416440829.723224.jpg
