What It's Like To Make A Watch
Sitting on the watchmaker's bench, two things became apparent; that finger condoms (cots) choke the blood out of my fingers and looking through a loupe with just one eye gives you no depth perception when you need it most. For several days I took instruction from a master watchmaker while I and an watches-dealer reader were guests of Frederique Constant in Geneva putting together our first watch movement. It was a thrilling experience, and one that few people will ever receive, even if they pay for it. Unless they go to a watch making school that is.Technical Director and watchmaker Pim Koeslag is Dutch, and so is Peter Stas, who is the founder of Frederique Constant (with his wife Aletta). Would like to share my first Patek Philippe timepiece here.Patek Philippe. Gen��ve.Patek Philippe Naviquartz Chronometer, Ref : E1200, Cal. 33 with quartz standardization marina electronic chronometer with sweep centre seconds in original mahogany box. Manufactured in the late 1960s. In black dial, inner Arabic numerals, Arabic seconds indication to the outer raised chapter ring, in black painted cast metal case with chromium plated bezel.The original purpose of any chronometer is to be used in celestial navigation. In conjunction with a sextant and star chart a captain or sailor would measure the degrees that a known star is above the horizon (or it's Zenith) at a given time and date and get a position on the ocean. A minute error in measure of degrees or time will equate to many nautical miles of position error so accurate time is essential.

Will the new GMT 3285 movement update across the line?
I'm assuming yes, and the website just hasn't been updated, but you never know with Rolex.Any past history that might indicate the movement will be updated across the GMT range this year?
