Historical Perspectives: Just Because: An Original Zenith A386 El Primero Chronograph And The Awesome Striking Tenth, Next To Each Other
The watch on the left is the awesome Zenith El Primero Striking Tenth chronograph, a watch we reviewed in detail here and absolutely loved (sidenote, if you've never seen one of these in action, you have to watch the video here).? The watch at right looks a lot like the 2010 Striking Tenth, doesn't it? It should, because it's the reference from which it was birthed.?You see, the Striking Tenth borrowed its tri-color dial from the original El Primero chronograph from 1969 - reference A386.? This early automatic chronograph (some would say it's the first self-winding chronograph, some would say the first high-beat self-winding chronograph, and others, the first self-winding integrated chronograph) is something of a cult classic, as Zenith themselves say no more than 2000 examples were ever produced.? New AP owner. Joined the Club :)
Been a long time owner of Rolex watches and just finally took the plunge and purchased my first AP. I went with the Royal Oak Offshore Diver. I'm very happy with it so far! It's comfortable and looks amazing on my wrist. Just a quick thank you to this forum which has provided tons of information and advice. I'm looking forward to contributing on my experience.

111 or 510 ?
I read recently that a friend of the Forum said that the 111 movement has proved to be a robust workhorse movement, easy to fix and regulate by any decent watchmaker, no need to be a slave of Richemond every time you need to adjust it or clean it etc.The model 510 is the same but is provided with an in-house P 5000 movement. It can also be served by any watchmaker or need to carry Panerai for any problem?I guess being manually winding it could handle any watchmaker specialized but rather ask the friends of the Forum. What I regret tha Panerai never made manually winding models 312 or 351. There are other models but I do not like cyclopsThank you.
