Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Deadbeat Watch
It is funny how trends develop in the watch world, especially for relatively high-end, obscure complications. Once strange and relatively unique, the dead beat seconds complication is having a veritable renaissance perpetuated first by the more hip independent watch makers and now entering the mainstream of high luxury timepiece creations. For 2015,?Jaquet Droz gets on the dead beat seconds hand wagon with a new version of the Grande Seconde called the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Deadbeat. What is a deadbeat seconds complication? For those who don't already know, it is simply explained by saying that it is a ticking seconds hand in a mechanical watch. Ticking seconds hands are normally reserved for quartz watches C at least that is how they are known in more modern watches. Historically, however, ticking seconds hands existed on certain high precision clocks sometimes known as regulator clocks. These clocks were used in scientific labs or to help regulate the time of other clocks. Tickin
Breaking News: General Patton's Watch C A Graduation Gift From His Parents C Sells For $137,000
Remember General Patton's five-minute-repeating, split-second chronograph pocket watch that we covered here back in September? Well, it went up for auction today at Heritage Auctions and sold for a whopping $137,000.The watch was originally purchased for $350 (negotiated down from $600) by General Patton's father, George Patton II as a gift for his son back in 1927. 1 OF 2 The watch was originally estimated for $25,000 to 35,000 and hammered at $137,000, which is no surprise due to the provenance and level of complication. For full details on the lot, you can visit the Heritage website here. 2 OF 2
Another reason why Omega is great
They are focused on what the customers want. I often wear my Speedmaster on a Bulang & Sons cordovan strap. I was at the boutique at the Short Hills Mall a few weeks ago, and asked about buying an Omega buckle (the one from B&S is nice, but I thought it would be cool to have an Omega one). No problem, they said! Only $45. I love Rolex, but they would never make something like this so easy. Before and after pics...
Omega Seamaster GMT - Did I Buy the right Watch?
Hi,Currently I own a TT Rolex Sub with a black face that was a present from my wife and have been on the lookout for a SS watch to wear while travelling (mainly overseas and other time zones) I want a second watch as the TT Sub stands out as a beacon in Asia and other less than safe countries.Today whilst in the city a major store was blowing out it's Omega stock at 40% off RRP one day only sale as they no will longer be a dealer and want to clear their stock. They had a black Seamaster 300m REFERENCE 212.30.41.20.01.002 that I loved (very classy) and a blue Seamaster GMT REFERENCE 2535.80.00 with the sapphire crystal back. Both watches were set the same price. I know nothing about Omegas, but at the price these seemed to be bargains so I took the plunge without doing too much research, buying on impressions rather than hard research. Whilst I loved the Black Seamaster, the assistant pointed out that the GMT would be more useful and that the classic blue would differentiate it from my
