Watches at Wimbledon: Who Wears What
As many watch aficionados and tennis fans know, some of the Wimbledon tournament’s biggest stars are also “brand ambassadors” for some watch brand or other. So which watch will we see on the wrist of the eventual men’s and ladies’ Wimbledon champs at the trophy presentation this year? We don’t know yet, but here’s a primer on which tennis players wear which timepieces.Swiss maestro Roger Federer, he of the record-breaking 17 Grand Slam titles, grew up in Basel, home to the world’s biggest watch fair. He’s also a discerning watch fan himself, and has been an ambassador for Rolex for several years, wearing a distinctive Rolex watch on many of the occasions he has hoisted a tournament-winning trophy. Lately, he has been partial to a platinum Cosmograph Daytona. 15400 Blue now at ADs
Was at Govberg this past weekend, and was told by one of the sales associates that the Blue AP 15400 is now available for order by ADs; that it not a boutique exclusive anymore. Not sure how true it is, but I'll let you all know when I decided to purchase one!

Strapped
About 6 weeks ago, my beloved Omega X-33 NASA kevlar strap broke. It lived a good life, providing me with several years of faithful service. That meant I had to use the Speedy on a 6 years old 40 dollar strap that was carefully shaped to look like alligator. It was okay, but it too was showing the age and for something at that price point I just could not ask for any more years of service out of it.Long story short, I stopped by Bachendorf's on my way home and I bought a Hadley Roma Select Crocodile strap, 20/18 with white stitching. It was quite pricey but they made me a good deal on it so I got it around 40% off. It did not look much different from the cheap one I had for half a decade but once on the watch, it made all the difference and I think it looks great! One dilemma remains:Should I use it with the deployant that I stuck on it as soon as I got home and extend the life or should I use it with the OEM Omega buckle that I bought for the kevlar strap?
