Baselworld 2015 Preview: New Versions of the Girard-Perregaux 1966
Among Girard-Perregaux’s releases at Baselworld this year are new pieces in the 1966 collection for men and women. The new Girard-Perregaux 1966 features a rose-gold case and fine guilloch on the dial.Holding the new 1966 up to the light gives quite a view. The loping guilloch pattern stems out from the center of the dial in 12 sectors. The dial itself is in silver with a flinqu enameling technique applied to it. Applied indexes at 12, 3, 6 and 9 are baton-shaped and painted in a gold to match the case. A date window is at 3 o’clock. The hands are feuille-shaped.The men’s 1966 has an automatic GP03300 movement, which is 25.6 mm wide. It beats at 28,800 vph and it runs in 27 jewels. Its power reserve is estimated at 46 hours. There are sapphire crystals on both the front and back of the case. The rose-gold case has a mildly sloping bezel, leading down to polished lugs. The watch comes on a black alligator strap with overstitching; the pin buckle is also in rose gold.
Incoming - had it before, glad its back
Sometimes we get rid of a piece and regret doing it. I have been without this for a couple years and so glad to have landed one. Just such a great wrist presence, love it or hate it not too many with more pop.
Aftermarket straps for Omega

Pre moon Speedmaster back on parade
Here we go, I posted photos of this one back in December after I first purchased it and it was looking a little tired with a Seiko bracelet, a missing pusher, a badly damaged bezel insert, a broken spring and cracking glass. (see first two photo's)The story of it's life is quite interesting and is as follows.......It was purchased new back in the late sixties by an Australian adventurer by the name of Dennis Bartell, from a shop in Adelaide. He was a bush pilot in those days and wanted something that was accurate and reliable. Several years later in 1985 he decided to do something totally different and thought a little walk in the desert from the North of Australia to the South, a distance of about 3000 K's (1900 Miles) might be fun, and so organised himself, starting off from the Gulf of Carpentaria. After a few days travel he started to get a pain in his leg so decided to use a trolley to carry all the extra food and water he would need for the long desert stretches between civilisa
5131
is the 5131 really that hard to obtain from a dealer? how long are the waitlists or is that AD dependent.
