Baselworld Best: Timepieces To Watch In 2012
Leaving Baselworld each year is bitter sweet because I tend to have such a good time. I don't get to see even a third of what I would like to check out, and it is great to be among my friends and close colleagues for over a week. It is tiring however, and during final days you end up forgetting you are there for watches. I love it though, and am proud to be part of the world's biggest watch show. Next year I have decided I need to attend the show with a posse. Who is with me? I can promise there will be some nice watch fondling going on.So I keep getting asked what my impression of the 2012 show is/was, and what I liked the best. Always a tough question as I just admitted to not having seeing all there was to see. That might be unfair as I did check out the majority of the important stuff from the big brands we are all familiar with. Overall impressions? I think it is a mixed bag. Chicago Botique experience
I recently brought my speedmaster professional moonwatch into the Chicago boutique for a warranty repair. I bought the watch from an jeweler in the Chicago area. Unfortunately the jeweler is no longer an ad. The hour regester sub dial was no longer resetting to true 0 and was only resetting to about 1/8 of the way between 12 and the 1 hour marker. I'd been putting off the repair since I was enjoying the watch and it was only a hair off. The people at the Chicago boutique were really nice and I ended up getting the watch back in just under 3 weeks which is much shorter than they quoted (under promise and over deliver). It also seems like a better experience than others have had on the forum.

Now there are many many ways for Omega to screw this up: XL size, saphire back, 18 mm thick, fake patina etc. But if its done right I think this will be a winner. The case and chamfered lugs looks great, no date complication, just a clean 3,6,9,12 dial.

Incoming!!! 5167 (second and final time)
Guys,I had not had the chance of doing an incoming in quite a while, and this one is one to celebrate for.Last year I got this from DavidSW for a great price. They were not super popular I think. Then a few months later a collector friend offered me 2x what I paid for it. It had to go. I'd been looking to get this watch back for months. I literally called all 90 ads on pateks website. None had it. The best they could do is put me on list.Anyways, last week a fellow forum member gave me a tip about a local place who had 2 mint ones. And hey! It's back!! It's got papers, box, etc. It was bought originally in Sept 2016.This time I bought the bracelet version. I also bought the clasp and rubber straps straight from Patek, they should be here next week.
