A 1950s Tissot And The Appeal Of The World Time Complication
World Time watches hold a certain fascination to us here at the 'Dink - we've told you this before - especially when we get to the world-timers from the 1950s and earlier. Louis Cottier made a name for himself creating the first true-world time movement, and countless brands employed him and his team to create pieces for them. We're talking Patek, Vacheron, and Rolex, to name a few you may have heard of (of course, Aggasiz also used Cottier and this watch was actually given to the leaders of the allied forces after the Second World War). But, a vintage world timer from Patek, VC, or Rolex will cost you some serious money, and that is why we are here today with a 1950s Tissot that has the same appeal for a fraction of the price. Seamaster 300MC: A few more thoughts....
Although the watch is thick, it wears well. I was concerned the height would prevent this watch from easily sliding underneath the cuff of my dress shirts, but that has not been the case. And, the bracelet and clasp I initially believed to be heavy and bulky are, in fact, the perfect counterweight to the watch case. I have 6.5” wrists, and I don’t think the 300MC is too much:What amazes me most, however, is the timekeeping. Sure, we could all have a watch more accurate than any mechanical on the market if we simply bought a Quartz. And, my Rolex DateJust I and Sub 114060 are both within COSC specifications. This Omega, however, is something different altogether. Over the past three days of wearing the watch, I cannot discern that it has lost or gained a second. This “slow-beat” 3.5 hertz movement has impressed me. I had—and still have—my doubts about the co-axial hoopla. It seems overly complicated. For example: If the co-axial movement is
Easylink for 114200?
I intend to purchase a new OP 114200 from my AD. I choose this one for its 34mm size and for its brushed, non-polished SS finish. However it only comes with the simple Oysterclasp. Now my question is whether there is a legitimate way to add the convenience of the Easylink functionality to this particular watch.I asked my AD, he said probably not but he was not quite sure, hence my question to you. Thanks for your help!
