Reliability question
I have a question to all AP owners. How reliable is your AP? How often do you service your watch? Currently, I'm considering the AP diver and 15400. I'm a bit clumsy and can imagine scratching the bracelet on the 15400. I have always loved the diver and the classic genta design. Both watches transcend time. Which one do you prefer aesthetically? Anyone switch the straps on your diver or 15400? Picks please of both. Thanks for your input.
Vintage Love!
Thought I'd share this brilliant piece with the fellas!
Chronomat B01
I saw the B01 at an AD in Houston this past weekend... Absolutely gorgeous! The one I tried on was the two-tone with the amber dial and roman numerals, and the brown alligator strap. I mean, this watch was STUNNING!!! Even my fiance, who is by NO means a WIS, was amazed at how good it looked! This is most definitely going to be my next acquisition! And as big as it is (43.7mm) it fit my relatively small wrist very well. The AD offered 20% off retail. I can't find that watch anywhere on the internet, much less at a discount. I'm thinking I might have to do it!
AT 8500 not jumping anymore...
I had sent my Aqua Terra to Omega last year as it was running very fast, but apparently not magnetized. It took almost three months to get it back. Once I received the watch I noticed that the crown didn't feel he same when setting the time, but everything was working so I didn't want to send it out again. Last night I went to wind and set the watch and all of a sudden the hour hand stopped jumping from hour to hour. It is now a smooth rotation, I know there is a problem. I'm planning on sending it back again today however I'm out of warranty at this point.... Bummer, really love this watch and I'd rather not be without it for so long again, not to mention the potential repair costs.
Domed sapphire?
Maybe silly question, but why did Rolex move away from domed glass? Modern aesthetics? Due to anti-reflective capabaility of domed sapphire? Sure there's a simple explanation I'm not aware of. I know the black bay fifty eight has a slight dome. Just love the look of classic glass. It's my greatest motivation to picking up a classic sub rather than modern. Any insight would be appreciated.
