Jaeger-LeCoultre Mad Men Reverso Watch Hands-On
"The 1960s was the sexiest era in US history." I am paraphrasing Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner after interviewing him in conjunction with the launch of the limited edition Mad Men Reverso watch known as the "Mad for Reverso" piece. His personal love of the era easily transcends through the show. "It was about time for the era's style to make a comeback." And it sure has. Everything from fashion to furniture as of late has been (at least in part) influenced by the popular television show on AMC.I asked Weiner if he at all anticipated the?influence on style that the show would have. As it isn't possible to anticipate a show's success, it is hard to know in advance the type of effect it will have on pop culture. Weiner seemed to express that the style-shift focusing on post-war booming America was almost inevitable, and that he was just following what he loves. His carefree attitude reflects more interest in the authenticity of the show's look and feel versus how people react to it. It i
SIHH Rewind: A Week On The Wrist With The Baume & Mercier Clifton 10057 Complete Calendar
Baume & Mercier is one of the more wallet-friendly brands that shows at SIHH and last year released the entirely new Clifton collection. The most complicated of the Clifton watches is the 10057 Complete Calendar, a modern take on a style the was at the height of popularity in the 1940s and 50s. The Clifton Complete Calendar got our attention and we strapped it on for a full A Week On The Wrist review back in May. Click through for a ton of live photos, a brief history of the calendar watch, and our complete thoughts on this budget-conscious triple calendar.
Strolled into the AD to window shop....
And left with this! I was not planning on buying anything but it was such a lucky and rare find, I decided to pull the trigger. It killed my watch budget for the year but it should pair nicely with my hulk. I am so excited! https://instagram/p/BdF6ug3HMX2/
Which Perpetual Calendar Chrono?
Hi guysNice to join you, I am Andrea, italian based in LondonIt has been a lot of time I have thought of buying a Patek Chrono and I am finally ready to do it My first choice would be the 5970 (either a G or a P) but, given the attractive second market price of the 5270 I was also recently looking into it..Aesthetically wise I would go for the 5970.. From an investment point of view I am excited about the 5270's first in house movement and think that sooner or later it will recover in value.. I heard that maybe at Baselworld next year also the P version will come outI am aware that you had a lot of similar discussions in the past but I would like to hear your updated thoughts given also today's prices and new models Thank you all and have a great Sunday
Black SS Submariner Date at AD
Hi all,I saw somebody do this for a Daytona a few months back. I was just at an AD visiting my family for Thanksgiving and they have a new Black SS Submariner Date. I know that others have said this is hard to come by these days, and we've all heard the price increase speculation. If anyone is interested I will buy it, and have your name written on the warranty card. Sales tax is 7% here on top of MSRP.If interested, I will only take a wire transfer (if you have no references) or PayPal plus fees (if you have many references) which includes MSRP, shipping plus insurance ($100) and tax. I will only ship to the U.S. I'm just trying to help a fellow TRF'er get the Sub for the Holidays. There is nothing in this for me, and I don't care if nobody takes me up on the offer.
