SEWILLS "FERREIRA" PRS-39
Resurrecting past glories is always a challenge with a tendency to go rather wrong. The modern VW Beetle resembles Ferry Porsche's design like a bottle of Tesco Value Red resembles Chateau Cheval Blanc 2000. Citro?n's chief executive should be publicly pickled in LHM fluid for permitting the DS5 – that Picasso-in-a-frock – to use Bertoni's sacred DS name.Timefactors' Eddie Platts has been brave indeed in resurrecting the venerable name of Sewills. Joseph Sewell started making nautical navigation instruments in nineteenth century Liverpool, only ceasing manufacture in 2000. Sewill's original instruments are things of beauty and function, found on merchantmen and even Cunard liners. His marine chronometers have the easy elegance that nineteenth century craftsmen gave to everything from cast iron railway station pillars to postboxes. Even the engraving on his sextants would make modern typographers weep. So, does the the Timefactors Ferreira (PRS-39) manage it?The 316L stainles
Breitling Emergency size/impressions
I'm seriously considering purchasing an original (not II) Emergency, yet I've never held one nor seen one in person. It's kinda of hard to purchase a watch without having a feel for its dimensions or trying it on your wrist. But that is what I get with an E as cannot find one at my local AD.For those who have an Breitling emergency in your collection, I would appreciate seeing some photos of E next to a Rolex SubC/116610 (or similar). I have a 116610LN, hence that choice.A face shot of the two next to each other, and a side shot showing relative thickness of the two watches.Any wrist-time impressions you might have are also appreciated. Do you feel the large antenna at 5 o'clock is a bother while wearing (pokes at wrist/back of hand), or share other pros/cons. Do you enjoy wearing it daily, or due to bulk doesn't get much wrist time from you; other tid-bits you can share.
A visit to the AD
Went to my AD to drop off my 5711. It developed the sticking date issue. I guess I won't see it until next year.I did get to play with a few pieces and wanted to share with you guys. I tried on the 5890r and the 5164. Both amazing pieces and I can see both pieces in my collection in the future. I love the heft of the 5980 but Patek did an amazing job matching the RG case with the dial and strap. I like the 5164's added thickness and heft compared to the 5167. So my list for my next Patek keeps getting longer: 5164, 5205g, 5170g, and 5960p. Which one should be next?
Titanium 44mm Chronograph
I have PAM 121,89,and 25(I like Titanium!).Has Panerai made a 44mm Titanium chronograph?
Strap maker rankings
I've been flipping PAM straps now for a couple of years & for now have pretty much settled on a stable collection of 7 or 8. I've tried a wide range but now gravitate toward finished edges & less beat up looking straps. After having ordered straps from a bunch of prominent strap makers, here is how I would rank them in general. Obviously a very subjective list & perhaps had I ordered a different strap from some of these I would have had a different impression. Customer service has been good from pretty much all of them.I'd be interested to know what others think:1-Mario Paci 2-Greg Stevens3-Micah4-Simona5-Rob Montana6-Dirk7-Gunny8-Europelli9-Ted Su10-Toshi
