Wanna Sell Your Watch? Right Now Could Be The Time
The conventional wisdom is that retailers want to sell you things, not buy your things. It is a bit strange from a consumer perspective to to be "sold" on the idea of "selling" your goods, but that is exactly what is happening in a big way when it comes to luxury watches. An article of mine just got published on Forbeswatches-dealer that discusses how and why companies are looking to buy your watch, and why this is perhaps the most booming area in the watch world today.I don't want to re-write the entire article again here on watches-dealer, but I recommend you check it out if you have any interest in buying watches, selling watches, and the pre-owned watch market overall. I interviewed some key players in the industry who are among those who are heavily investing in getting you to sell them your watch. I also explain why this is a growing area right now, and also try to dispel what I learned are a lot of misconceptions about the pre-owned watch industry. For the most part, the pre-owne
Zenith Captain Winsor Annual Calendar Watch
As a unique collaboration with the MIH (the Muse International d'Horlogerie), Zenith introduces a great new member of their Captain family of watches. With a base in-house made El Primero Chronograph movement, Zenith and the MIH have developed a special new module that adds a very legible and practical annual calendar complication to the mix. In total you get the high-beat El Primero automatic movement, a 60 minute chronograph, and an annual calendar with the date, day, and month. All that and a lit Ludwig.Ludwig? Yea, you know Ludwig right? I of course mean Ludwig Oechslin, and by MIH I really him. He is the curator of the MIH and a friggin' genius. One of his most interesting achievements was the creation of the "trilogy" set of astronomical watches for Ulysse Nardin in the 1990s. Oechslin is unique because he didn't start his life as a watch maker until he was about 30. Before that he was a mathematician. He is particularly good at engineering concepts requiring complex calculation
Zelos Chroma Hands-On
The last time we encountered Zelos Watches they had just launched their third watch, the Abyss 3000M Bronze on Kickstarter (which was successfully funded and then some). In between dive watch releases, the brand went for something different, the minimal-designed lugless Chroma.SpecsCase: 316L Stainless Steel; also in PVD finishMovement: Miyota 8215, custom PVD plated rose gold rotorDial: Black (also available in cream and skeleton black or skeleton cream)Lume:Lens: SapphireStrap: Crazy Horse LeatherWater Res.: 50MDimensions: 42mmThickness: 11mmLug width: 20mmWarranty: 1 Year International WarrantyPrice: $299CaseThe 42mm round, lugless case is the most noticeable feature of the Chroma. Rather than traditional lugs for the strap the Chroma instead uses hidden lugs on the underside of the round case. (We recently saw this same look with the Uniform Wears M40.) The case height is a respectable 11mm and its textured sides give it the appearance of being made up of several stacked pieces. It
Vintage Omega Speedmaster Watch
Hi there, I need some help. I inherited my dad's watch collection and in the bunch was the Speedmaster Moon watch I always wanted from him as a kid. He bought it in that era but I do not remember. How can you tell the year on these. The stainless band says 1171 inside. It's got to be from 1970 or something, how can I tell? Any other markings? In the box he kept it in was a 1969 watch on the moon add featuring John F Kennedy. Any help would be appreciated.
My favourite daily wearer
I have always admired Panerai, been on the panerai threads many times before asking advice on which model I should get. I acquired this 112 around 2 months ago and it has basically been on my wrist constantly for everything. My rolex have had zero wrist time recently. They are a surprisingly comfortable daily wearer. Maybe it's still the honeymoon period so I am giving it another 4 months before I start looking for a partner for the 112, but I can't see a rolex coming anytime soon, I can only see panerai on the horizon
