IWC and Parmigiani Go To The Oscars
Top Hollywood celebrities wore IWCs as they made their way down the famous red carpet Sunday night. Taylor Lautner wore the Portuguese Chrono Automatic, Quentin Tarantino wore the Big Pilot, and Robin Williams wore the Pilot's Mark XVI. Parmigiani Fleurier once again co-sponsored Sony Pictures Classics' pre-Oscar celebration in Beverly Hills on Saturday night. Guests included Best Actress Nominee Carey Mulligan for “An Education” along with Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer. Parmigiani is an active partner of Sony Pictures Classics events; this is the third Oscar event Parmigiani has sponsored for the independent film company. Seiko Recraft Kinetic Watches
One of Seiko's more quiet new watch collections announced for 2014 was the Recraft range, which is all about re-imagining classic Seiko timepieces for today's watch lovers. Some of the Seiko Recraft watches are inspired by models that go back to the 1970s, but I wouldn't necessarily call Seiko Recraft watches to be retro-revival. More, they are a way of revisiting classic Seiko models in a modern light. Even though there are mechanical Seiko Recraft watches, the most illustrious of the pieces are these two Seiko Recraft Kinetic watches (ref. SKA651 and SKA659). Each uses a Seiko Kinetic movement and is mostly closely aligned with the 1990s' Seiko Artura Kinetic watch models.Nevertheless, it was in 1988 that Seiko made its then very innovative Kinetic family of watches available for sale for the first time. This was two years after debuting a Seiko Kinetic concept watch at Baselworld 1986. Kinetic was a fantastic creation that for the first time built a bridge between mechanical and qua
Black and blue by the pool...oysterflex bonus
Sitting by the pool this afternoon wearing my BLNR and it works perfectly. Went by my ad this am, asked them if they possibly had any extra oysterflex bracelets laying around for my stainless 116520. He pulled one out of the drawer, said this is all I have and you're welcomed to it. Gave it to me for nothing lol. Now only one to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cop With A Rolex
Saw a cop today with a beautiful TT Rolex on the wrist. It looked to be a date 34mm from the 60s if I had to guess. The situation didn't warrant me asking him about it but I wanted to.
Results from adding a half-link to my Explorer 1
For the last 2 years I have been trying to find the perfect fit for my Explorer 1. My wrist is just at the point where it was too loose when I kept the original full set of links and had the micro adjustment moved to the 'shortest' notch. I tried removing a link from the 6 o'clock side and moving the micro adjustment to its 'longest' notch. It was a better fit with one link removed. However, the watch face was slightly rotated away from me and not in the optimal place on my wrist. Additionally, the link under the clasp closest to the 12 o'clock side was cantilevered in an uncomfortable way. The solution was a half-link. This does not change the overall length of the bracelet when you use the micro adjustments (at least not when I measure it), but it repositions the watch face, and gets rid of the cantilever problem. The Explorer does not come with a half-link, but the Sub half link DOES. The Sub half link fits and matches perfectly. I am now totally satisfied with the fit, a
