VULCAIN – 50s President’s Watch
The first watch fitted with a mechanical adjustable alarm was born in the Vulcain workshops in 1947 after 5 years of development. The "Cricket function" has since become the Locle brand's signature and is so called because it makes a noise similar to a cricket when it goes off. To coincide with Baselworld 2015, the dials on the manual wind pieces from the 50s President’s Watch collection have been redesigned. The new look features a circular guilloch centre and linear guilloch hour rim in a range of three different shades of grey: silver grey, grey beige (or "greige") and mouse grey. The 42mm steel case houses the famous manual wind mechanical Cricket V-11 calibre which brings to life the time functions (hours, minutes and seconds in the centre), alarm (point which can be adjusted by the winding crown) and date (display at 6 o' clock). Price: 5’850 CHF
Opinions on this Vintage Sea Master...
I am hoping that some vintage Omega experts will chime in here. I am not really an Omega guy, so I would not know about this Sea Master. Is it even real? Looks to be quite old, but I am just guessing. Can anyone shed any light on this? It still runs, but will need some TLC. If you lightly shake it, you can here something in there moving. Maybe like a rotor. Is it even worth servicing? Here are some pics.1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg6.jpg7.jpg8.jpg
Sky dweller stainless dial size?
Hi there just a question, what's the size of the 42mm stainless Sky dweller dial?I was at a Rolex AD this weekend, I have the SD43 and had a side by side look at the Sky dweller. Even tho the SD43 is bigger, it wears smaller than the Sky. Assuming that is cos of the dial?
Brand new Sky Dweller, and going to RSC for service
Well, looks like I'm raining on my own parade I picked my brand new Sky Dweller last week and upon winding it up, the crown is very, very, VERY stiff. This isn't my first watch or Rolex so I know what winding is supposed to feel like, even when the mainspring is fully wound. So I brought it back to my Rolex AD and they agreed that the crown is very stiff. Well, it's going back to Rolex RSC in Dallas for repairs.Good news is it's still under warranty, with 4 years and 360 days to go.I just can't believe or understand how something like this was not tested or caught by Rolex's quality control? And how competent is RSC Dallas to work on this complication???
4 years, 1000 posts, 8 watches
It's been a lot of fun being a member of this great forum. I've certainly learned a lot. I flipped a bunch in the beginning, but have finally settled into a small collection that I really like. I've had the Explorer, Explorer 2 (black) and Milgauss (white) two times each. The Explorer 2 and the Milgauss (along with an Omega Railmaster) are now the base of my collection. I've bought from dealers on TRF as well as my local AD. I've developed great relationships with both. I definitely like watches and brands I absolutely didn't like 4 years ago. I didn't like two-tone anything, now I absolutely love them. I didn't understand the appeal of brands like Panerai and JLC, now I can't wait to try these brands. My biggest take away has been to really take my time before pulling the trigger. I am all over the map as far as what to get next. As of today I think a TT bluesy or Daytona, but that could just as easily be a classic Submariner or a Panerai. Getting a 31mm OP for my wife was
