Visual Quiz: Off the Cuff
Here’s another test of your watchspotting skills. We’ve lined up 15 watches, covered more or less (mostly more) by a shirt cuff. Your task is to identify as many as you can. They start out easy, but they get tougher as you progress. As always, the answers appear at the bottom. Good luck!
Couture Watch & Jewelry Show Official Watch Media Partner
watches-dealer is now the official Watch Media Partner of The Couture Show. Couture (@by_couture) is a high-end watch and jewelry trade show event that takes place each year in Las Vegas during the same time as the JCK event, which this year will be on May 29 - June 2, 2014. watches-dealer will be bringing you exciting live watch coverage of the event from?the Wynn Hotel. For our first year with Couture, we will be making some changes to how the event is covered. That means we'll place more of an emphasis on social media and internet coverage, in order to not only display the new watches brands are displaying, but also to help you, the consumer, feel like you are there with us.?Couture is a private, industry-only event not open to the general public, but that doesn't mean you can't be a part of it with us.In future years we have many more ideas we will hopefully try to implement, but we and Couture are excited to bring you news, views, and fun from the show, Couture 2014. Discounts to be expected?
The local Omega dealer around here is going out of business. Its a chain of 4-5 stores. They have these huge signs plastered in the paper and on the street, play radio commercials sounding like everything must be sold today at liquidation prices etc.For the past few weeks I have stopped by to look at a Planet Ocean Chrono and they have them marked 20% off and won't move another $1. Some liquidation..... Isn't 20-25% pretty typical for an Omega? When does it become a bargain? I really love that watch but would only buy it if it was a super steal price.
Best Patek reference books?
Hey guys - I've got a ton of watch books and guides for Rolex and other brands.I was wondering if there are any recommendations for a good Patek book that has early vintage references and details as well as more recent models.I know John Reardon has Patek Philippe In America. Anyone have this?Open to other suggestions. Thanks
5711A. Rolex and AP Trades. Any regrets?
Hi guys,Never owned a Patek. I've been eyeing a 5711 for some time but cannot hold myself to pull the trigger. It's a lot of money for a SS sports watch. So, I too baby steps and got myself an AP 15300 hopping the itch will go away. I put myself on the list for a 5711 anyhow, just in case.It seems that the 15300, while beautiful did not fully do the trick. I went to visit the AD last week again and tried on a 5712. It fits like a glove. I cannot get it out of my system. Although I am known for being trigger happy and selling 1 week later. Here is the deal. I need to sell my Hulk and the 15300 to make it happen. I know that I will lose money in case I need to flip back, sell the 5711, and buy back the Rolex and the AP.I know this is a personal decision but I want to hear your opinion on the following. Would you trade Hulk + 15300 + about 5k for the 5711? Any regrets once you got it? Cheers.
