Montblanc is the Official Timekeeper of the 2010 Belmont Stakes
Montblanc has announced that it will serve as official timekeeper for the Belmont Stakes thoroughbred race on June 5, 2010 at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY. At 1.5 miles, the Belmont Stakes is the longest and most demanding of the Triple Crown races. During the winner’s circle presentation, Montblanc North America President and CEO Jan-Patrick Schmitz will award a Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec timepiece to the owner of the winning horse. Montblanc shares a historical connection to horse racing through its Rieussec-inspired chronograph. As the dedicated watchmaker for Louis Philippe, the last king of France, Rieussec made history on September 1, 1821 when he succeeded in recording the times of all the horses as they passed the finishing line to an accuracy of a quarter of a second. To capture the running times of the horses, Rieussec used a device in which he wrote time using two rotating discs placed beneath an ink-filled marker. Now Writing For aBlogtoRead.com and Luxist.com
I have officially expanded my watch writing horizons. You'll now find me writing both aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer and on Luxistwatches-dealer (a luxury items and lifestyle blog that is part of the Weblogs network). My position there is as the watch expert, and you'll find articles there on real estate, cars, art, fine living, and anything else part of a luxurious lifestyle. Part of this new opportunity is a dream come true as I've always admired the blogs that are part of the Weblogs network. Aside from Luxistwatches-dealer, my favorites are Engadgetwatches-dealer, Joystiqwatches-dealer, and Autoblogwatches-dealer. You should check them all out. While I am fortunate to be a writer on Luxistwatches-dealer, all this blogging takes a significant amount of time, and it isn't my day job. Writing about watches all the time, has me thinking about watches all the time. So allow this image of stacked watches to serve as a metaphor of my resultant mental priorities; (almost) all watches, all the ti
Speedmaster Purchase.
Back in 03-04 i was battling Cancer and my Uncle came acrross the country to stay with me and to give me support in my Battle. When he left to go home i noticed he had no watch so i quickly went over to my watch box and pulled out a Speed master professional moon watch and gave it to him.It was the first real good watch if you know what i mean i purchased when my business started to take off in 1994 it cost a few grand at that time I have many watches Rolex IWC, Omega, and so on but i never had the feeling to buy another speedmaster until now. Last week i was able to purchase a very nice Speedmaster Reduced automatic for $950 (good price i think ) and now i have the Speedy bug again. So my question is.... if you had say like $5,000 to spend what speedmaster would you buy, i love vintage and not opposed to new but i like to be different and odd variations that gain Value over the years is always a plus to me. Please send me links if you like as i am ready to buy now and thanks in advanc
PO GMT Stoked
So after visiting my Omega AD today, I finally settled on the new Planet Oceans GMT in black. So freaking sweet. 43.5mm open case back with the newest in house co-axial movement and ceramic bezel. 2014 model will take a few days to get it in. So when I get it in hand I will be posting pix. Maybe someone here already has it. I've only seen it first hand in blue and orange which did not excite me as much as this black version. Still a fantastic divers timepiece at any rate.
Older Rolex Lug Production Consistency
Is it true that for vintage or older Rolexes the factory production of the lugs were not consistent? Some lugs were thinner and some lugs were thicker coming out of the factory. Due to the different skills of the artisan of watchmaker in the factory.
