Introducing the Autodromo Prototipo Brian Redman LE
I've been a pretty big fan of the Autodromo Prototipo watches since they were first released in 2013. Simply put, they are one of the best releases of the last couple of years, with pitch perfect styling and razor sharp execution. Their vintage aesthetic just nails the look and feel of 60's and 70's racing chronographs, but with enough twists and turns to make them distinctly Autodromo. I recommend reading our lengthy review here, if you are unfamiliar with the watches. One such twist was that when they were initially released, there was a limited edition version dedicated to Vic Elford, a renowned driver of the Prototype-era. The watch, which featured a 3-eye chronograph, some very stylized coloration based on Mr. Elford's Porsche 907 paint job, sold out almost immediately upon release.Following the success of the Elford, Autodromo has teamed up with another iconic driver of the prototype era for a new limited edition watch. The Brian Redman Edition commemorates both the driver, Mr. R
I had the same concern
New to AP having owned many Rolex and a few Panerai. Picked up a new Diver 15710 a week or so ago. Craftsmanship is outstanding. I am in love in every way except one. This watch is a constant 5-10 seconds (closer to 10) fast per day. Mind you I am not in the least bit OCD about my watches timekeeping but this guy is noticeably fast. Not to compare, but every Rolex I ever owned was spot on right out of the box and still so years later. My questions are: 1. Is this simply the nature of the beast? I see many complaints about this.2. Is there a break in period where I might expect the watch to adjust?3. Is there anything I can do to try to cause the watch to adjust?4. Should I send my new beauty to Clearwater for longer than I have owned it?Any expert help would be appreciated. Thanks
Super jubilee discontinued. Why?
When Rolex released the new Datejust 36 this year at Baselworld much to my disgust they have decided on using a sporty oyster clasp on the jubilee bracelet just like the DJ 41 and new jubilee GMT Pepsi and are phasing out the beautiful super jubilee. Why oh why are they making dress watches with sports watch clasps on them it baffles me and makes them look worse IMO. In my mind a Datejust jubilee should have a beautiful continuous bracelet just like the presidential. So I've been wanting a Datejust 36 for many years now and because of Baselworld and those new TT DJ's with that new clasp I decided I needed to get myself a super jubilee before the SS ones are updated next year. So yesterday I went to my local AD in the UK and purchased a stainless steel and fluted bezel 116234. The salesperson told me this is the last one they have and they have now been discontinued already! (even though a replacement wasn't even announced this year) and Rolex won't let them order any more in.I would lo
DateJust 41, To flute or not to flute?
Whats people's thoughts on the flutted bezel on the DateJust 41 ? Does anyone think that a watch with the fluted bezel will hold its price better or be more collectible over time ? Which combination will be the most popular ?
Final Decision
Gents, I have gone back and forth as to which model I like and which one fits me best. I originally purchased an all black 116610 Sub that got a little boring to me, so 2 years later I traded along with cash an all black AP Offshore. I found myself never wearing black, therefore did not love that watch with any of my blue suits. I recently sold that watch and am now wanting something that I will stick with and that will look great with whatever I wear. I think the sub was just a little too plain for me. The stainless is of course young and fits my age group more. I'm 25 and am in banking. The new rose gold models are very appealing. Thoughts? My wrist size is 7. Just looking for help on what to go with!Thank you all!
