A Complicated Evening with AP
It is always a pleasant surprise to receive private invitation from AP. You know you will be in for something exciting, refined and fun! This time, it was a night full of technical content befitting the haute horlogerie status of AP, a night of relentless showcase of pinnacle mechanical timekeeping technologies from the 138 years old Swiss watch powerhouse. ??The dinner venue was at a cozy Italian rstaurant called La Villa which is located just next to the AP Service Center. As ironic as it can be, the Italians were not the main casts of the day, but had to give way to the Swiss invasion... ??~~ Menu of the Day ~~Amuse-bouche: Assorted vintage AP complications from the early 1900s' till the new millenniumAP started making complicated timepieces in the late 19th century. It was quite amazing to see some vintage perpetual calendars and miniaturized minute repeaters on display. I can only imagine how much patience the watchmakers must have to construct each and every one of those precisio
Incoming ! My first Omega!
Hello everyone. Just picked up this new to me Omega speedmaster 3551.20.00. This is my first and I'm sure not my last Omega ! This watch is really beautiful in the flesh and pictures don't don't do it justice. I've been eyeing an Omega for a little while. I've kind of had this one in the back of my mind ever since I saw an online review of it comparing it to the Rolex Daytona many years ago. This one is now discontinued but a pre owned one popped up locally. This particular example looks like in new condition so I quickly jumped on it. So far I'm extremely pleased with this watch; it feels very solid and very well made. I may update the clasp to the micro- adjustable one in the near future.
Lume Shot!!!
Just a quick pic. Of my 2255.80 in the dark
I sincerely hope that you are listening, Mr. Stern.
There are two things that I would love to see Patek do in the future that I feel would be not only be good for the brand itself but also for watch lovers in general. First, would be to release a non-limited edition of the new 5522 without the New York engraving. This would make a wonderful watch available those not fortunate enough to obtain one of the originals while in no way detracting from the value and exclusivity of the limited-edition. And secondly, to make a steel version of the 5524. This would bring both of the Calatrava Pilots within reach of a wider audience and would perhaps tempt me away, at least for a while, from my Rolexes. Let me know what you think of my modest proposal.
What a disappointment - Christie's Patek 175
I looked at the catalogue a couple of days ago... Nothing to get excited about!!In my opinion, its a huge opportunity wasted for both Patek and the auction house!!!
