HYT Skull Watch Is Cool, Does Not Indicate Minutes
HYT, the "Hydromechanical Horologists" offer a new watch model for 2015 with the HYT Skull C coming in two versions. If you are a bit confused by how to read the brand's newest watch, then worry not, so was I. What you need to know is that the dial of the HYT Skull indicates the hours, seconds, and has a power reserve indicator. That's right, the HYT Skull has no need for minutes. What, are you in a rush or something? You've got a futuristic skull on your wrist!Skull watches aren't anything new, but this is among the first futuristic skull watches we've seen. It is interesting, rather limited, and cool, but my question is why HYT decided to create a skull-themed timepiece as their third watch. The HYT Skull is based on the original HYT H1 (hands-on here), which was later followed up with the even more high-end HYT H2 (hands-on here). Following the liquid indicator theme, 2015 for HYT is all about the Skull.I'll have to speak with HYT CEO Vincent Perriard on what it is about skulls that
Elliot Brown Canford Review
Brands so often try to sell you a bill of revolutionary innovation or the ultimate this or that, that when a brand comes along with a seemingly modest goal, it's quite refreshing. For Elliot Brown, a new UK based watch brand, "It’s about doing things just a little better". Founded by Ian Elliot and Alex Brown, both veterans of the affordable watch industry, Elliot Brown is not trying to reinvent the wheel, nor are they trying to prove every other watch brand wrong. Their goal is simply to take their cumulative watch industry experience and make functional time pieces that can be worn and enjoyed for "years, not fashion seasons."Elliot Brown’s current line up consists of two watches, the Canford and the the Bloxworth, both available in various colors and finishes. We had the pleasure of spending some time with the Canford, EB's take on a modern pilot watch. With aggressive, but subdued styling and a dual crown design the Canford immediately stands out from the crowd. It's f
The IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar In White Gold With A Blue Dial
I spent the day hanging out with IWC in Schaffhausen working on a little video project that will be ready in about a month. But, while bumming around bugging everyone from the museum curator to Kurt Klaus himself, I came across what is just seriously a beautiful watch. I'm talking about the IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar In White Gold With A Blue Dial. 2 OF 4 Now if you know anything about IWC and its history with perpetual calendars, you know that Mr. Klaus designed the first QP back in 1985 that was fully operational by just the crown - that means no pushers at all. The movement inside this Portuguese is no different, and the day, month, moonphase, and year are all completely in sync, always. That means if you stop wearing the watch and it stops running, you don't have to set each indicator individually, but rather, just set the date with the crown and all else with adjust itself accordingly. But that much, I knew before seeing this Portuguese with blue
