Why Apple Watch Is Heavily Marketed To Women
Smartwatch makers may have a lot more to thank Apple for than they realize. It will be Apple alone whose efforts will make smartwatches a successful consumer product. While the smartwatch market apparently sold 6.8 million units in 2014 (an apparent 82% increase over 2013 according to smartwatchgroupwatches-dealer), the industry is still just learning to walk and has an extremely limited adoption rate among mainstream consumers. Thanks to a lot of good advice and some great hires, Apple understands that the Apple Watch (hands-on here) is a tech device which mainstream consumers primarily conceive as a fashion item because it is something they wear. Apple also knows that women are going to be an extremely important consumer of the Apple Watch and marketing to them will be a key part of the Apple Watch's first-year success.Apple Watch ad spread in Vogue March 2015Animated Apple Watch ad in digital copy of Vogue March 2015Even though the Apple Watch has been covered by mainstream media, i
Dominique Loiseau Dead: Master Watchmaker Leaves Strong Legacy
Sad news today as Swiss/French watchmaker Mr. Dominique Loiseau has passed away, Gregory Pons at Business Montres reports. He was just 64 years old. Still relatively unknown to many people, Loiseau was one of the venerable geniuses of modern watchmaking, able not only to restore incredible and complex works from the past, but invent the word's most complicated watches of today.I first encountered Dominique a couple of years ago at Baselworld upon the announcement of his new eponymous brand "Loiseau." His debut watch was the 1f4 that we offered a hands-on look here. The plan was to produce just two a year, and the 1f4 was to be the most complicated watch in the world. The double-sided uber-watch was a mere taste of the man's accomplishments. More recently, it was announced that he signed on with Girard-Perregaux for a series of unspecified projects related to the introduction of new mechanical watch technologies (and of course products). I knew there was trouble though when Girard-Perre
Coolest Watches Of 2011 Round-Up
It is the end of the year and you people are entitled to your lists, round-ups, and best-ofs. I am not a man of superlatives - so please stop asking me what my favorite watch brand, model, or food is. We thankfully live in a world were it is not necessary to choose favorites, and sampling is encouraged (my horological polyamory will continue unscathed). Having said that, I've chosen ten of the most desirable, interesting, or just plain cool watches of 2011 covered here on aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer.
