Pre-SIHH: 3 New Cartier Men’s Watches
The previews of new luxury watches debuting at the SIHH watch salon in Geneva this January continue to roll in. Our “Watch Insider” Alexander Linz has already shown you one of the new Cartier watches for men premiering at SIHH, the Cartier Calibre de Cartier Diver. Now we reveal three more new men’s Cartier watches. 1.Rotonde de Cartier AstrocalendaireThe Astrocalendaire is one of Cartier's headliner pieces for SIHH 2014. It features a flying tourbillon surrounded by a unique perpetual calendar. The calendar is presented in three concentric circular displays, with the date on the outermost ring, the month in the center, and the day of the week on the inside. A flying tourbillon lies at the center of these displays. Each ring is part of a bridge, and each is on a different level. The rings are stationary, and the day, date and month are indicated by blue PVD rectangles that move around the rings. All displays are set with the crown, except the date, which is co
Vacheron Constantin Adds 14-Day Tourbillon to its Platinum Collection
In 2006, Vacheron Constantin became the first watch brand to dedicate an entire collection to platinum timepieces. This year, the venerable brand adds a version of its Patrimony Traditionnelle 14-Day Tourbillon to its Collection Excellence Platine.Like other watches in Vacheron’s Platinum Collection, the new Patrimony Traditionnelle 14-Day Tourbillon uses 950 platinum considered the noblest of metals, with a purity of 95 percent compared to 75 percent for 18k rose gold for not only its 42-mm case, but also its dial and even the threads in the watch’s leather strap. The elegant, clean dial has slightly off-centered hours and minutes hands, an aperture for the tourbillon at 6 o’clock and a power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock. The power-reserve display features a “trailing” or “dragging” hand to indicate the remaining energy in the mainspring on an arc-shaped scale that is evenly divided into 14 segments one for each day in the excep
Chronoswiss Adds Six U.S. Retail Partners
German watchmaker Chronoswiss has added six new authorized retail partners in the U.S. market. The retailers are Hamilton Jewelers in Princeton, NJ, David Orgell in Beverly Hills, Feldmar in Los Angeles, ABT Time Boutique in Chicago, Mayfair Jewelers in East Hampton, NY, and Martin Pulli in Philadelphia. All of the new retailers will carry both mens and ladies timepieces, ranging from the classically styled Chronoswiss Lunar Chronograph and Kairos Lady to some of the newest timepieces that debuted at this year's Baselworld such as the Timemaster Chronograph Nighthawk and the black perpetual calendar. The new Sauterelle with the manufacture dead beat second movement, pictured below, is also expected to hit retail this Fall.Chronoswiss is a German watch manufacturer based in Munich. The company was founded by Gerd R. Lang in 1983 and produces about 6,000 watches per year. Each Chronoswiss wristwatch component is produced in Switzerland and then hand-finished in Germany.
Top quality Patek Philippe Watches
Media calls it a "collapse Sheen", but it was really fair for its clock which disappeared on 28 October. The story is deeper, though. Sheen complained his "date" Capri Anderson at night to take the watch. The two apparently met earlier in the night and eventually return to the Sheen hotel room where things are a little out of control. Drugs and alcohol are clearly involved - and Capri is said rapidly became afraid of the 45 year old actor before locking in a bathroom.
Servicing a Speedmaster (reduced) very little used
I have a Speedmaster (reduced) Schumacher yellow dial which I bought about 15 years ago. I use it very little, perhaps 3 months if that during the 15 years. Essentially when my Rolex was being serviced and a few other opportunities. It works very well although it has never been serviced.Question: does usage influence the needs of servicing? Or is it essentially related to time?I do not really want to spend any money on that watch, on the other hand I want to keep it working. Thanks for your advice.
