The Value Proposition: A Seventy-Five Dollar Watch That Looks Like A Million Bucks
I sometimes wonder, when we post pictures and articles of watches like this, or this, or even this, whether we are not inadvertently creating the impression that we spend most of our time at Chateau Hodinkee alternating between sippin’ Darjeeling on the veranda with our pinkies out, and upbraiding Manservant Jeeves for being slow with the Pol Roger and caviar at teatime. When you’re heavy into mechanical watches there’s a sort of creeping tendency, over the years, to make the unspoken assumption that all other things being equal, you get what you pay for – which is to say, if it’s not expensive it ain’t much. The fact is, though, that really good design, quality in execution, and even real horological charm, to say nothing of a healthy helping of history, can be had for less than the cost of what my long-suffering spouse and I spend on dry cleaning every week. Daily wearer question
Hey all. Would love to hear from the group on what you think would be the better daily wearer. I am thinking between a diver or BB right now. I tend to lean toward the BB (on rubber strap) because of the bezel which I believe would handle abuse better and I'm not a huge fan of the bezek rotate crown on the diver. I do like the (I believe) better resale capabilities of the diver. My current daily driver is a 15300 with an occasional wear of a Patek Aquanaut.
Diver Arrived
All I can say is wow. This piece is absolutely stunning to look and wear. I can see what all the fuss is about over the Diver. I'm very happy to add this as a brother to the RO 15400. Thanks for everyone's Diver pics that pushed me over the edge.Just a few iPhone shots...BTW, DavidSW, thank you! A bit of a FedEx hiccup that almost gave me a heart attack, but long as it's here.
Not your wrist size but how tall you are?
To me it's not the size of your wrist but it's how tall you are. I don't know if I'm right or wrong?...I'm 5'8 and looks kinda right on me...share picture pls if you can, thanks!
