Watches NEWS
Hands-On: The Ultra-Rare Panerai Bronze 1000 Meter Prototype, Coming Up At Christie's New York T
One of the most unusual watches we’ve seen in a while is this bronze prototype – rated to 1000 meters’ water resistance – made by Officine Panerai in the mid-1980s, as part of a project to develop dive watches for the Diver Corps of the Italian Navy; the watch is going up for auction this week from Christie’s. It’s a pretty rare bird, but for our money what really takes it to the next level is that it’s a fantastic example of how utilitarian design can, when pushed far enough, transcend itself and produce something really exciting aesthetically, which is fundamentally what the appeal of Panerai is all about. 1 OF 4 Before getting into aesthetics, just from the standpoint of objective rarity and historical importance, it’s a pretty remarkable piece and would probably attract a great deal of attention. The story goes that in the early '80’s, Panerai’s chief of mechanical engineering, the famous Mr. Alessandro B

Service: Reserve times...Omega Moon...Val 72... Rolex...Others
I track the reserve times of my watches. To tell when they need service. But reserve times can be tracked on all watchesI posted the reserve times on three Omegas movements,I own: 1861 & 1866 & 550 for reference.I also have a rare Doxa (1962?), with a Val 72.Posted bellow: are the reserve some of the reserve times.I plan to send the Val 72 to Dalton Toledo, In LA..Los Angeles, California. Not lower Alabama. To have it serviced, soon.I think the Pivots on the balance are wornThere is a problem.Should be about 42-43 hours ?PM me if you want Dalton's info.I would like to know what reserve times people observe on their speedys. This may help people who are not sure when to service a watch. If the reserve times are consistent. No service is indicated. When they are low, or dropping. This shows a problem, or service is needed.Omega, Rolex and others.posts the reserve times; for reference. No two watches will be the same, in real life. And it will very, by temperature.Thank you for your time and

Lost the Love (1680)
I'm relatively new to this form but, have taken away many suggestions And a wealth of knowledge from All through the years. I have a Red 1680 and for many years have contemplated removing the cyclops for a T-19 or superdome. I don't think I could ever part with her, as she has sentimental value, otherwise it would make it that much easier to delve into a 1665 or 5513 (problem solved). I know that there are a large majority of purists who believe NOS all the way(and most of the time I'm in 100% agreement) I've built show cars for many years, and although trophies are nice, I believe that the only way to truly enjoy them, is to get as much seat time (behind the wheel) as possible. Your thoughts??
