Ball Engineer Master II Slide Chronograph Watch, Slipping To The Future
When I first read about the new Ball Engineer Master II Slide Chronograph, I for some reason had the refrain of "Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slippinginto the future" pop into my head. Is this new Ball the future of chronographs? Well, time will tell. For now, though, it definitely is an intriguing iteration. If you were only to look at the dial of the new Ball Engineer Master II Slide Chronograph, you would have no problem identifying it as a chronograph: it has a traditional "tri-compax" layout with the 30-minute register up top, running seconds at 9, 12-hour register at the bottom, and a tachymeter scale around the outside. When you look to the side of the almost 48?mm case and see no pushers surrounding the crownthen you begin to question your assumptions.Slide In Its Neutral PositionOf course, a brand like Ball is not going to play games to give the appearance of a chronograph while actually tucking other functionality in;?so, how do you engage the chronograph? Well, that?is a
A Look At Cartier's New Maison de Metiers dArts In La Chaux-de-Fonds
If, somewhere out there, there is a harmonious valley in which watch-lovers can meditate, if there is a monastery in which they can discover inner peace – then Cartier’s new Maison de Métiers d’Arts in La Chaux-de-Fonds is likely to be that Shangri-La. It’s a place where one can admire and concentrate on the meticulous effort that makes the dials of haute horology.Cartier has transformed an old barn into a state-of-the-art watchmaking facility, showroom and greeting space for guests. In doing so, they’ve fulfilled the manufacture’s goal of providing a space that blends the company’s rich history with its current innovative watchmaking techniques. 2 OF 15 The ground floor sets the mood in blending the old and the new. It’s a fusion of 18th century limestone, wood, and period furniture that provides a conversational environment for visitors. The main lobby that leads to the other floors of the facility is a modern struc
Getting my first AP - Help!
Hi Peeps, Thinking of getting my first AP - a Royal Oak Chrono (black dial) . Would love a brand new one Any thoughts on what is the typical discount you could get on this model from an AD? I would love some thoughts on this since I am pretty much a novice in the world of luxury watches! Travel for work between Dubai and HK so happy to hear from the experienced folks on where is a better deal possible. Any folks in Lon/Rest of Europe who could share the AD prices for this watch ( I can compute the net VAT refund to calculate net price)Thanks a bunch
quirky AP movement
I own a lot of relatively less expensive watch brands... IWC, Panerai, Omega. I find that on my other watches when setting time, wherever I put the minute hand it stays there relative to the seconds hand once the crown is pushed in. However on my 44 RG Royal oak offshore (my first AP)... I have to set the minute hand about half a minute past the mark where I want it to end up (the manual even says to do this!)... seems crazy that for $45k watch there is so much play in the movement. I'm seriously looking at the 41 mm Royal Oak Chronograph also in RG as my next watch... do the other AP's also have this quirky movement?
