Luminox-Sponsored 911 GT3 Cup Car Sets Pikes Peak Record
Driving the specially prepared Luminox Watch Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car, Jeff Zwart won the 2WD Time Attack class and set a new class record in the 88th running of the Pikes Peak Hillclimb on June 27. Zwart, now a seven-time Pikes Peak class winner, not only broke Rhys Millen?’s 2009 class record by 38 seconds (after smashing his qualifying record by 18 seconds), but went faster than all but five cars in the entire field, including 3 Unlimited Class and 2 Open Wheels cars, all with 600-plus horsepower. His 911 GT3 Cup car also beat all the production-based race car entries, both 2WD and 4WD. Nobulhiro Tajima, from Japan, won the hillclimb overall in an Unlimited Class eight-cylinder, turbocharged Suzuki 4WD one-off race car.Zwart expressed amazement that his normally-aspirated car didn?’t lose horsepower from the 9,000-foot-elevation start and the 14,000-foot finish line. A combination of the 450-hp, 3.8-liter Porsche Cup car engine and expert engine map adjustments from
Tempvs Compvtare Sea Shepherd Watch
Some people speak for the trees, and others speak for the whales, and dolphins (and porpoises, sharks, turtles, and umm.others animals). Enter the Sea Shepherd Conservation society, its boats, and its vagabond band of activists. Some people call them eco-terrorists, some call them the only people out there actively trying to do something about the problems of illegal whaling and other vicious anti-Earth activities. Personally, I am glad that someone is doing more than just whining on a sidewalk in Berkeley. You can talk all the crap you want to about people like those who volunteer at Sea Shepherd, but dammit they mean what they say, and are proactive. They kind of realized that protesting alone was the worst way of getting anything done. Oh, and they actually sink ships I hear, which is pretty cool. Here is a special edition watch dedicated to Sea Shepherd and the activist writer Farley Mowat. The watch is based on the standard Tempvs Compvtare watch that I wrote about here. You can te
Planet Ocean Casino Royale - Rubber Strap cracking (yet again)
Hi, amongst my collection of Omegas I have a 2006 Planet Ocean - Casino Royale, I like the watch but have a recurring problem....the rubber strap.Presently, the watch is on its third rubber strap and taking it off today noticed that just like its predecessor. the strap is beginning to crack and split in several places. I do not wear the watch everyday and always wash it and clean after swimming. I am somewhat bemused given that the straps retail at 230 and the AD's attitude is simply buy another strap !Has anyone else had a similar experience (all my other watches are on steel bracelets). Is it worth contacting Omega directly and seeing if they will offer some sort of compensation on what will be the fourth strap in 6 years ?
Do you check accuracy on your watches?
As you may know I started with Rolex used to be,3135 and especially the 4130 mvmnt is pretty accurate if well regulated and staying so for years. My 5712 w the cal 240 was okay initially 1-2s/day but seems we are after the honeymoon phase ,during the day is very accurate but it does 5sec w dial up overnight and 1-2s if left on crown up or down. You may say it s time to regulate however i m afraid we talk about weeks for a simple regulation job-which is about 5minutes if you bring a Rolex to the RSC-.:-(Any experience with the rate stability of Pateks ?do you think it s better to live with it and wait for a couple of months to see if it s getting worse. Thanks for your input
Bosch season 3 Rolex
Just finished up season 3 and wondering what Rolex that Bosch is wearing. I keep thinking it's a Sub or a Seadweller but it has polished center links. Is it a GMT? Great show by the way.
