My First Grail Watch: Ernie Romers
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we are speaking with Ernie Romers, who founded something that likely all of use, have used, and continue to use - the robust watch forum Watchuseekwatches-dealer. Read on to learn what sparked his fire for watches, and what watches have found a home in his collection.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Ernie Romers: My name is Ernie Romers, I am the founder - and previous owner - of Watchuseekwatches-dealer, the largest watch forum on the internet. My relationship with the watch industry slowly built while I was building my website. In the beginning, it was Zenith that supported me by giving me access to Baselworld, as well as documentation about their watches. It owe much thanks to Marc Roethlisberger for that. Later on, I established contact
Royal Oak Incoming!!!
Just got my Royal Oak 15400 Black Dial. I've been debating for months which watch I should pick up next and finally picked this once an awesome deal popped up. I had tried it on many times before buying it and fell in love with it, so I'm beyond happy to finally have it on my wrist. The bracelet is ridiculously comfortable and the dial and movement are beautiful to look at. I'm finally content with my collection and don't see myself buying a new watch for a very long time, nor can I really afford one after this. Bonus collection shot at the end!
Red RO Bezel?
Just a little fun post. My 2.5 year old has been asking me to get him a watch for a while now (the first time he asked me it melted my heart...almost as memorable as his first time calling me dad ).Saw this little guy and thought it would be fun to pick up for him. Who can resist a RO inspired bezel with Spiderman? Even the case is similarly styled as a RO case complete with rubber strap It's definitely a bit bigger than I expected as beside my Jumbo it actually looks pretty big, but I guess big watches are the trend these days, right?Quick pic of our father and son watches. Will take some wrist shots when I get the chance.
Considering flipping some for a pretty big purchase.
I will say my DSSD is my least favorite watch but I order that watch in 2008 as a graduation present from grad school and I could never sell it. That said I have probably one the white five times since 2010 or 11 when I purchased a new subc. The Hulk is and amazing watch and I will buy another one much cellular then later I hope. But with the fact I have a deposit on a SD43 they watch funds are looking kind of slow I am right now so I suspect it will at least be a year. Though if I really fell in love the SD43 could be sold as well. . I also have my birth year SD, a SubC. My girlfriend does not understand why I have for watches that she considers the exact same but us true WISs totally understand. But I am going to consolidate after I get my new SD and narrowing it down to 4-5 watches so I'm going for something different. A PP 42mm Aquanaut blue face. Other choices are a AP 26400.SO not sure in TI/RG/SS and the YG SubC with the blue dial has been calling my name for years. I personally
