Jaquet Droz’s New Bird Repeater Geneva
The Jaquet Droz brand has made a name for itself by combining fine watchmaking and elaborate mechanical inventions. Now Jaquet Droz has turned its attentions to the capital city of watchmaking. With the new Bird Repeater Geneva, the brand has adapted its automaton-bearing minute repeater to include some of Geneva’s landmarks. On the Bird Repeater Geneva’s dial, timekeeping takes a backseat to grand effects. Most prominent on the dial are the bird automata, which are hand-painted and hand-crafted in gold. There are two fully grown goldfinches: the one on the left leans forward to feed its young, while the one on the right moves its head and extends and retracts its wings. In the gold nest between the birds, two hatchlings sit on either side of an egg. The egg cracks open, revealing another baby bird inside.?Meanwhile, the painted gold dial behind the birds displays recognizable symbols of Geneva. The nest sits on ?le Rousseau, an island in Lake Geneva. On the right of the di
Mark on DSoTM date wheel..
Hey guys, wanted to get your input here.I purchased a brand new DSoTM with boxes/papers from a respected seller on here a few weeks ago. No issues with the watch, it's absolutely great. Today I was looking at the date and noticed this smudge(?) It's obviously magnified way up for this picture, but it's still *slightly* noticeable to the naked eye and kinda driving me crazy. I cycled through all the days and the 26th is the only one affected. Is this worth going to an AD about and possibly getting corrected or am I just being totally neurotic? Here's the link if the pic isn't showing upimgur/a/P2UYe
Something Old & Something New
Just a few pics of my two Seamasters. The speedy bracelet on the newer was quickly replaced with the pictured Hirsch strap. Amazingly comfortable. The vintage is acting as my dress watch at the moment.
5980 discontinued - WHY?
Anyone know why the 5980 steel was discontinued? I've recently been pondering if i should move my 26320OR for a steel 5980 or a 5726 but come to find out they aren't produced anymore.
Incominggggg
Hello All:Thanks to all the enablers on this forum. Several days ago I acquired the 5711, which was a watch I have been drooling over for a long time. I love so many things about the watch. The blue dial is stunning and has such a wide variation of colors as evidenced by my photos below...I can stare at it for hours. The bracelet is gorgeous and probably the most comfortable SS bracelet I have ever had. I have worn this with a suit and with jeans and a t-shirt, and I find the watch to be pretty versatile. I have no regrets as making this my daily watch or that I gave up some great pieces to get into my personal grail. My only slight concern is that I have noticed some hair pinching when the watch slides. Has anyone else experienced this with this watch and if so, how do I fix this? The watch fits pretty well and has a little room to slide, but I'm wondering if it is worth investing in a half link and hoping that it won't slide as much? Any and all feedback is greatly apprec
