The most hotly anticipated watch of Basel World 2012 was to be the new sport watch from Rolex. You see, the internets were abuzz with the fact that Rolex had registered the name "Sky-Dweller" weeks before its unveiling, and countless so-called "experts" chimed in with their prediction of what it would look like, and what it would be. The general consensus was that it would be a brand new sport watch, kind of a super pilot's watch to the GMT-Master's "every day" pilot's watch, just as the Sea-Dweller is the beefier version of the Submariner. They were wrong. 2 OF 36 Rolex kept the Sky-Dweller hidden from the world until its great unveiling with silk caps. On the very first day of Basel World, after the silk caps were removed, the world was shown the first new Rolex model in quite some time, and definitely the most complicated Rolex in a generation. Hypothetically speaking, what will be your choice for a first Nautilus if you are to choose between these two models? Here are the models along with my analysis of their (+) and (-). I am not considering any Nautilus with a bracelet. The 57261/A with strap(+) Lower Cost compare to 5712R(+) Versatile, better for daily(+) Additional Strap (+) Love the AC complication, it's actually useful to me(+) Looks (-) SS only (-) Thicker case profile (-) Same complication as my existing PP 520andThe 5712R (+) It's Gold!
