Hands-On: With The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Full Calendar In White Gold (Live Pics, Specs, & Pricing)
The 1966 line from Girard-Perregaux is easily the purest from this manufacture of haute horlogerie. But it can perhaps be overlooked, considering GP's attention-grabbing, truly cutting-edge masterworks like the 2013 GPHG-winning Constant Escapement LM. While tri-axial tourbillons and triple bridges are fun to read (and write) about, it's not necessarily what the average watch lover looks for in an everyday timepiece. For that, the 1966 collection does the trick, and today we take a look at this elegant full calendar in white gold. 2 OF 14 These watches have a number of features you would want to find in a high-end, every day luxury watch. They are not excessively sized at 40 mm, and the dials can either come in black or white. They are true triple calendars in the old sense of the term – not annual calendars or perpetual calendars. This is a seriously cool watch, even if you're not typically one for tourbillons. 2 OF 15 Closer Look At The UTTE's 14mm Tourbillon Arnold & Son has released a flurry of new, technically-impressive movements over the last year or two, one of which is the calibre A&S8200 inside the UTTE. It is entirely in-house, only 2.97mm thick, and houses a 14mm one-minute tourbillon at 6 o'clock that acts as the small seconds indicator. Once cased-up, the entire UTTE is still only 8.34mm thick, which makes it the thinnest tourbillon currently available. Through two barre
AT DD Pic
I feel like the Omega section doesn't get nearly the love it deserves. So I figure, start posting some pics. Build it up a bit with some watch eye candy. Wearing my AT today. I put it on an OEM rubber strap with white stitching. I really like this watch a lot.
Anyone looking for a 5712?
Passed on one today at J Brown in Pikesville. I wouldn't wait too long.
