Weird Watch Art By Dominic Wilcox
From time-to-time we come across art inspired by, or placed directly inside of, a watch or clock. An watches-dealer reader was nice enough to share with us the work of UK-born and -based Dominic Wilcox, who, among other things, has made wrist and pocket watch dials a palette for artistic expression.Wilcox calls these creations "Watch Sculptures" and they start with vintage wrist and pocket watches that he has acquired. The first step is removing the crystal and replacing them with a tall dome to make room for the small sculptures and figurines that he creates. Wilcox claims to be inspired by both real and imagined situations, and uses the motion of the watch hands as part of the art. The figurines are literally placed on the watch hands.Speaking strictly from a technical standpoint we would not recommend that anyone do this with a watch they wanted to keep good time. While the hands may move with the additional weight, there is no chance that the extra pressure on the movement would al
Some Nuances on two 15300ST watches from G series!!! Any Thoughts???
So today I decided to have lunch with a good friend that also owns a 15300ST. When looking at our watches we noticed that certain things seem quite odd as there were differences on certain aspects of the watches. Both are G series but mine is earlier than his.1. The flange on his watch has a somewhat different shape than mine. While mine starts more curved and then flat, his is flatter and slightly curved towards the bottom.2. The font on the letter G of his serial seems slightly different to mine. More straight edges and less rounded than mine.3. The letter O on the word Oak engraved on the case back seemed more oval on his and perfectly round on mine. 4. The security engraving on the inside of the last link of the bracelet seemed finer on his than on mine. 5. His is slightly lighter than mine at 134.4 grs vs. 140 grs on mine. Both have the exact same number of links on the bracelet and no visible over polishing on one vs. the other. 6. The sapphire on the case back protudes slightly
Patek Philippe
why are Patek Philippe watches so exspensive? Are all of their models solid gold?I have been told that they are possibly even better than Rolex, but they are at least 2 or 3 times more expensive. I thought Rolex was the only company in the world that made all of it's own movements, parts etc.
Seamaster Planet Ocean Chron
Is the design of the Omega Planet Ocean Chronograph, more cosmetic than functional. With the rotating bezel there is as far as I can see no room for a tachometer dial, The full functionality of having a Chronograph is lost as you can not measure time production rates or measure time over distance. Not that you would need to at 2,000 feet below. Is this correct?AJF.

Anyone have any insight as to what will be released at Basel?
