JeanRichard Aquascope
JeanRichard’s new Aquascope embodies the essence of 1960s design. Its round dial and curvaceous tonneau case instantly take you back to the decade of mini skirts and bell bottoms, when the desire for bold personal expression drove art, fashion and design into new frontiers. This modern Aquascope retains the original’s monoblock case protecting dual crowns, and it houses JeanRichard’s in-house caliber JR1000 movement. The 40mm x 44.5mm Aquascope case is produced in-house. It is polished and satin-finished stainless steel and features an external bidirectional rotating black bezel, similar to that of the 1960s original. This bezel can be used to indicate a remaining dive time. To ensure accurate setting, the bezel is notched (120 teeth, i.e. a half-minute setting). To prevent ill-timed movements from an unexpected impact, JeanRichard has incorporated a safety system. When the crown at 9 o'clock is screwed in, the bezel cannot move. The screw-down crown at 3 o'clock acti
Review: Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military
The Ocean line by Steinhart is a group of Rolex homage divers. There are various models that cover everything from GMT Masters, to Sea Dwellers to a particularly well-done Explorer II 1655 (the Steve McQueen model),?but the bulk of the Ocean series are Submariner homages. Of the plethora of models Steinhart makes, the Ocean Vintage Military really stands out as a unique offering.?This is because the OVM refers to a very specific, rare and interesting model of the Rolex Submariner, the ref. 5517 Mil-Sub. The 5517 was a military issue Submariner for the British Royal Navy in the early 70's. As a non-civilian model, it had some special design details that make it truly unique in the Sub family. The two most noticeable differences are in the hands and bezel insert. The 5517 lacks the iconic Mercedes hour hand and instead has a broad and stubby sword hand, and the bezel insert has individual minute markers going all around the bezel, rather than just from 0-15. The other more subtle details

Blue dial 5960p vs 5905p?
Haven't been able to see the 5905 in the metal - on a list with my AD and am guessing sometime in calendar 2016 but not a certainty. The 5960p blue dial is pretty sweet and they are available. Am interested in opinions from those who have seen both. Of note, I sold my 5205R because it seemed small and thick. The 5960 has a bit bigger dial and the pushers give it better proportions than the 5205, but certainly the 5905 will wear bigger. Thoughts?
