Bulgari Octo Watch
The legacy of Gerald Genta lives on now with even more Bulgari-ness. The original Gerald Genta Octo was a fascinating timepiece with a range of complicated movements. The "Octo" name referred to the eight-sided case, and unfortunately there are no tentacles related to this product. While certainly unique, I have to say that the Octo looks quite nice on the wrist. Bulgari continues with the now iconic case with a new watch simply called the Octo.Assuming the design of the case appeals to you, there is a lot to like about this product. First of all, it has an in-house made automatic movement called the Bulgari Caliber BVL 193. While not revolutionary, Bulgari hopes that it will help assert the product as unique and help the brand continue to position itself as a movement maker. To be honest, with some of the brand's assets from its acquisitions, they produce some of the most interesting high-end mechanical movements around. Cold feet on putting the money on a SS. Do it anyway?
Hey guys.Just a quick update from hunting for a 5711. This was quicker than I had expected, and I have found a good friend's cousin that is looking to sell his almost brand new (bought under 2 months ago) 5711 blue dial.He is asking a fair $24,000USD, which is the price he bought it for. I don't expect a deal on this piece.I was really looking hard to find it, and now that I have, for some reason I am having cold feet putting that amount on a SS watch.A friend told me that the watch doesn't look nearly worth how much I am paying for, and that made me re-assess.Am I going to regret not buying this one though?I must say I do love the watch; Just can't help but think I could be getting some precious metal or so for that amount. Or even adding two more SS watches. My only other watch is a Rolex Sub btw. I think the duo with the Patek should be perfect still and cover all bases.Suggestions?
Daytona frenzy
Hi Guys,I'm looking into getting a 116500 but the gray market price seems out of control right now. Based on your guys experience with daytonas in the past, will the prices come back down anytime soon to MSRP levels or is it just going continue to go up?Also, is this a Rolex typical behavior of withholding inventory to create the hype and demand or is just the natural demand for daytonas? Thanks!
