Archimede SportTaucher M Watch
Conservative sport watch brand Archimede does it again with the new SportTaucher (Sport Taucher) M watch. This diver is a rational man's friend with a sturdy German-made steel case, 300 meters of water resistance and a sapphire crystal. It doesn't aim to excite sot much as it does to simply perform - again, another Teutonic tool.The case is 41.5mm wide, done in a satin finish (very tool-like look) with a matching rotating bezel. The crown is placed at 4 o'clock as is the date dial in effort to preserve the placement of the Arabic numerals located at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. I like the rounded crown guard and feel it adds a softer look to the case. At 12mm thick, the case should feel rather reasonable on the wrist.Archimede will offer the SportTaucher M with two dial colors: Black and blue. Animating the functions is an automatic Breitling 25B calibre movement which comes with the COSC-certification. It incorporates a rotor, encouraged by the rims of the new Continental GT. Embellished with 38 jewels, the mechanism oscillates at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour.The new Breitling watch is accompanied by a barenia or crocodile leather strap. Roger Dubuis Introduces La Mon��gasque Collection, We Go Hands-On
Earlier this month, Swiss manufacturer Roger Dubuis introduced their entirely new La Mon��gasque line of watches within the historic Monte Carlo district of Monaco. The venue served as the inspiration for the young brand, who refers to their newest creations as "an ode to gaming, glamour and the Riviera." In their attempt to capture this spirit, they've built no less than eight models to comprise the La Mon��gasque collection. We were there, and we've got the skinny on the best of the new releases.?Roger Dubuis (first seen here) has managed to scale their manufacturing capabilities to near 100% since their inception in 1995. Production is handled entirely within the walls of their Geneva facilities, where every watch that comes out the door carries the coveted Geneva Seal. For the La Mon��gasque collection, new calibers were designed and built, meant to embody the next generation of manufacturing abilities for the marque. It took me a long time to track this one. It's a limited edition from 2010, which is seldom seen even in the used market (which I've been scanning for the last 6 months for it).After almost closing a deal on a used piece, the seller decided to go another route, and it slipped away. After that, a dealer which I had contacted said he could see with BUSA if there were any left in stock. Long shot, I thought, but why not. You can imagine my surprise when he got back to me and said that there was exactly 1 piece left in stock with Breitling and asked if I wanted it. Hell, yes! I wanted it!Long story short, I got my hands on a watch that is truly special. Although Breitling has a name for big watches, this one feels great with 43mm and 14mm height. The in-house B01 with saphire back and 100m wr are the icing on the cake. In a time when I'm seeing a lot of love for vintage chronos, this seems to be a great way to enjoy that look with the perks of a modern piece.Enough said. Here are some shot

Patek Philippe Geneva Salon
There have been some great write ups and pictures on thevSalon by both Ben and Andy so instead of rehashing the same old stuff, with the same pictures I just tried to fill in some gaps and maybe cover a bit about why I was there. The Salon is certainly impressive and I think could be slightly intimidating to a person wandering off the street. It was completely renovated in 2006 using craftsmen to restore the interior as close to the original as possible. Leather embossed walls, crystal chandeliers as found in Versailles and a heavy influence from the Napoleon 111, gives a sense of history. Whilst the building is 6 stories I was restricted to the ground floor (where the sales staff and watches are displayed), the first floor where the minute repeaters are kept (where the watchmaker is present) and then the 3rd floor where they have the boardroom, dining room and facilities for product launches etc. They moved to this building in 1891 which I understand was previously owned by Tiffanys w
