Sowind Group Chairman Luigi Macaluso Passes Away
Sowind Group (Girard-Perregaux and JEANRICHARD) has issued a statement announcing that its Chairman, Luigi Macaluso, has unexpectedly passed away at age 62 after suffering a heart attack. Luigi, known as Gino by those closest to him, was born in Turin, Italy, in 1948. He was married to Monica and the father of four children, Stefano, Massimo, Anna and Margherita. More than 10 years ago, his two sons joined him at the head of Sowind Group. An architect, former motor racing driver and visionary entrepreneur, he had been behind the wheel of Girard-Perregaux since 1992. A firm believer in the value of an authentic Haute Horlogerie Manufacture, he pioneered the development of an integrated production strategy. A charismatic leader, he was able to make Sowind Group an essential player in Swiss Haute Horlogerie.Stefano and Massimo Macaluso will strive to perpetuate his vision for this company of which he was so fond, and to continue the many projects that he had initiated with passion.
Hands-On: With The Incredible Richard Mille RM27-01 Rafa Nadal
This isn't a new watch, it was shown last year. And on top of that, all 50 pieces of Richard Mille's RM27-01 Rafa Nadal have long been sold. But, we had the chance to see the incredible light-weight, mega-casual watch yesterday and each time we come across one, it leaves us blown away. 2 OF 12 The RM27-01 is potentially the coolest casual watch on the planet. It is light as a feather (like, you have no idea), and was specifically developed for Rafa Nadal to wear while he plays in professional matches. The entire movement is suspended by four braided steel cables, just .35mm thick. Each cable is fixed to a tensioner that is pulled tight by the watchmaker and adjusted as needed. Because of this system, the RM27-01 can withstand acceleration up to 5000 G. 3 OF 12 The case is a grey anthracite polymer injected with carbon nanotubes that was specifically designed to take impact from both the outside and the movement on the inside itself. The case is mono
15300ST dial pictures please...
Hi,I decided to buy a 15300ST, but I'm not sure yet about the dial color. The black dial was my initial choice but I fear it might be too dark, also because it's matte. The silver/white dial was my least favorite dial because white is too dull imo, but after seeing some pictures in which the silver comes out a bit, I'm hesitating. In general I have the feeling that a white dial is more feminine? (sorry, certainly don't want to insult anybody but I have this impression). The blue dial is maybe the best 'compromise'. It seems a very dark blue, but not sure how it looks in different light conditions.A long story to ask you to post some picture of your 15300ST (or similar) with dials in real life light conditions, ie not the catologue or website picture of AP...I hope this will give me a good idea about how a specific dial will look on my wrist. Thanks in advance!!
Questions for 5140G owners.
I am considering purchasing the 5140G. How do people like the piece? Does it wear well, comfortable and legible? I really like the look of the watch. It seems legible and a nice size for my 6 5/8 wrist. Any thoughts about or experience with the 5140 would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Oil or water under crystal?
Howdy all! I got my first Rolex - Sub Date - from my wife as a wedding present. Absolutely love it and I wear it anytime I'm not sleeping! On our honeymoon, in the plenty of light that is French Polynesia, I noticed some markings on/under the crystal. I filled the sink with soapy water, took my toothbrush, and scrubbed away. Wouldn't come off. So, it would seem they're under the crystal. To my eyes, and it's admittedly a bit hard to tell in the attached picture, they look to be a light brown color which leads me to wonder if they're lubricant reside spots. I've kept the crown screwed down the entire time I've had it so it's not water damage. What do y'all think? I'll be taking it in to the dealer this coming weekend to potentially send back to Rolex.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
