Christophe Claret Maestoso Watch With Detent Escapement
Quite remarkably Christophe Claret has released a watch that "merely" tells the time. Yes, it is true: while the new for 2014 Maestoso is anything but a simple watch, its only indications are the hours and minutes. That is kind of a big deal from a man who finds standard minute repeaters and tourbillons to be more or less passe. Nevertheless, the Maestoso is an extreme exercise in mechanics and with a detent-style escapement and constant force escapement, it should once again prove to be an object that captures our horological fascination. You don't hear about detent escapements too much in wrist watches because for the most part they make no sense to put in a wrist watch. The lever escapement is what you'll find in virtually all mechanical wrist watches because they fare much better to the type of mobile life that a wrist watch demands. Invented back in the 18th century, detent escapements are arguably more precise as they allow for a more direct impulse from the balance wheel to the e
Speedy pro issues....please help.
Hello,I noticed on a few occasions that my seedy pro has stopped prematurely (as in there is still power reserve)! I can get it run again when i pull the crown out and adjust the time. This is usually during the time it spends on the nite table. Initially, i thought i had forgotten to wind the watch but i have also test the power reserve and it is at a solid 48+ hours. This has happened perhaps 3 times in the last 2 months. I have also gotten it the watch to stop on a few occasion when i was setting the time. Anyone has expierenced this problem? Now, i bouight the watch used from a member off TZ. The watch was initially sold to him on 2008-01-14. I have the original sale reciept (with the amount portion cut off) and the warranty cards. But only the jeweller's name is filled in on the warranty card. The date and watch reference is empty. Will the warranty still be valid under my ownership? I heard that Omega warranty is transferrable.Thanks.
Not happy
Got my BNIB 5711 about a month ago and have been wearing it in rotation. Decided to finally time and check the accuracy. Over the past two days the results have been disappointing -24 seconds over 24 hours. WTF?! I'm sure the watch hasn't accidentally been magnetizated as it has never been placed near any possible source. Really disappointed with all the claims of the PP seal; and for Patek to fail on such a fundamental requirement of a time piece is not good. Now I have to take it in to get it regulated. Augh! Anyone have any idea of how long this will take?
Is the small seconds hackable on p5000 mvmt?
Anybody know if this is possible? My 510 owner manual doesnt mention it and when setting it only the hr and minute hand are stopped.
Batman
After saying I was not a fan of the Batman I saw one in the flesh and instantly fell in love. The LN is svelte and oozes class. The BLNR just has that something extra that makes it pop - I guess it must be the bezel The bezel is an amazing piece of work with its liquid colours which just flow into each other and alter depending on the strength of the light. Lovely watch and I think the nicest modern Rolex out there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
