Hamilton Khaki X-Patrol Watch
Ah, now here is a slide-rule bezel complication that I can use. I tend to make fun of these as I am not about to do long-division or calculate fuel consumption on a tiny slide-rule, if I need to figure that stuff out at allBut this one is actually handy. This new watch for 2012 from Hamilton is the Khaki X-Patrol and it has a metric to imperial conversion scale. That would prove useful as I often travel to Europe and having no idea how far things are and how much things weigh. I am such a proud American. It isn't going to replace a calculator, but in comparison to most slide-rule bezels out there, you'll probably use this one at least once in a while. The name of the watch sounds like it was made for some make-believe military force, but it looks pretty cool. I like how standard Hamilton Khaki watches look like they are made for actual military personnel, and the Khaki models with some extra term after them look ripe for wrist time on GI Joe character. 36mm Royal Oak comparison
Hi Folk,I've been umming and urring about adding a Royal Oak to my collection for the past year and I'm stumped of which size to get! The 36mm is obviously much more affordable to me, however I did try on the 39mm and it did seem a little too large for my wrist. Does anyone have a 36mm Royal Oak and a 36mm Datejust or Daydate that they could send a comparison photo on their wrist?Much appreciated.
Brand new Patek Aquanaut bezel defect
Dear all, I have come to realize that my 2 week old brand new 5164R has 2 defects on the bezel. One at 7 o'clock and one at 11 o'clock. The angle between the brushed plateau and the 45 degreed angle joining the satined polished facade seems to have been over polished by the watchmaker. I can't seem to take proper pictures to show but in bright light, you can see the deformation. I purchased it at a German official Patek retailer not far from Dusseldorf, it was a sealed piece and was opened before my eyes. I didn't realize this until a few days ago, when the light shining at those 2 spots caught my attention and upon examining with a loupe, I confirm the 2 overpolished, or rather looks like dented corners at 7 and 11 positions. The trouble spots are not big but they sure are defects. I cannot believe it passed Patek's quality control department. Now I am left questioning what to do about it.Anyone had similar experiences?Thank youSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Some wristshots of my new Simona straps.
Finally some sun peeking out so I was able to snap a few shots this morning. Hope you like them.
WOO HOO! My Poor Man Paul Newman-HERE
Hell, I'm lucky to afford the poor man's Daytona. Just Arrived: Ref 79170 Tudor Oysterdate Automatic Chrono Time. This watch pushes my buttons in so many positive ways. - Case and Trip loc Crown by Rolex. That's cool cause I love Rolex cases! This one is nicknamed The BIG BLOCK. It's huge.- Screw down crown & pushers. If I fall off the bar stool and land in the pool, no worries.- Two tone subs. I love two tones. If you got 'em, show 'em.- Rotating bezel. I use the bezel as a timing device often. Plus, you don't see many with this type bezel.- Val 7750 movement. My favorite chrono movement. Robust, trusted, and can be easily repaired. I use the chrono function often as well.-Plex crystal. Easily polished and plex has a luster not found in sapphire crystals.- Cyclops. Love the iconic Rolex look, need and use the date.- Oyster bracelet. Has a Tudor clasp and is ostensibly exactly the same as a Rolex oyster bracelet. Many thanks to those who PM'ed info to me.Now for the pics!dP
